Project Officer-Communication, Sarathi- Progress through Financial Inclusion

Location:

Dhaka, with possible visits to field locations

Reports to: Intervention Manager, Sarathi- Progress through Financial Inclusion
Purpose: Assist the Intervention Manager in quality and timely delivery of project activities and achieve the desired outputs and outcomes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Leading Roles as a Project Officer- Communication

  • Develop innovative communication materials and tools that increase project visibility amongst relevant stakeholders;
  • Implement existing communication strategy and communication plan for project in compliance with donor and Swisscontact requirements;
  • Lead preparation of branding materials and communication tools for all Sarathi events;
  • Work closely with the communication agency to ensure proper and timely delivery of work;
  • Keep Sarathi’s news updated on the Swisscontact website.

2. Supporting Roles as a Project Officer- Communication

  • Support the Intervention Manager in forming and implementing project capitalization strategies based on project experience and results;
  • Support the intervention manager to organize seminars, knowledge sharing events and workshops;
  • Support the Intervention Manager to prepare project progress report, technical reports and other reports as per project requirement.

3. Others

  • Support the tasks of other team members as and when required;
  • Any other task as mutually agreed by supervisor and the employee.

Skills and Experience

The individual must conform to the following qualifications:

  • Advanced communication skills in both English and Bangla (verbal and written);
  • Workable practical and technical knowledge on audio visual communication and print materials;
  • Ability to present, explain and interpret complex data or analysis;
  • Advanced level practical knowledge on Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Power Point;
  • Skills related to graphic designing (infographic, document layout design, etc.) and knowledge on Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop will be an added advantage;
  • Passionate and committed about developing career in development and social communication;
  • General understanding of developing and middle-income country’s development challenges;
  • General understanding of global development discourses and institutions;
  • Ability to deliver complex task within deadline in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment;
  • Excellent proficiency in English and Bengali;
  • Willing to and able to travel within and outside Bangladesh;
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Mass Communication, Media Studies or Journalism;
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional work experience in research and/or communication and campaign activities;
  • Experience of working in communication and/or research agencies will be an added advantage.

Physical Demands

Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.

Working Conditions and Environment

This will be applicable according to the Swisscontact Staff Manual.
