We are a decentralised organisation. With offices in West Africa, East Africa, and Asia consisting only of local employees, we work through local partners in 10 countries. We implement our programmes through local partner organisations.  

Our Organisational Headquarters is in Kristiansand, Norway, and has a coordinating, capacity building and fundraising role. Around 35 staff work in Kristiansand, and a total of 150 staff work for Stromme Foundation worldwide.

SF Bangladesh Country Office is in Dhaka. This position will be reporting to the Country Director of SF Bangladesh and work with the Global Finance Team led by the Global Finance Director, in Norway, and the Program Team in Bangladesh. The position holder is expected to provide essential financial support in maintaining the smooth functioning of the finance function of local implementing partners and the SF Country Office in Bangladesh. The position is only open to citizens of Bangladesh.   
 
Work tasks:

  • Provide strategic input to Finance related matters.  
  • Develop budget plans, donor-specific project budgets and monitor expenses against approved budgets and provide specific functional support on necessary revisions.  
  • Concurrent with financial review, monitor and report on partner internal control systems, certify the partner expenses reports, and recommend partner fund release. 
  • Manage the communications on contractual issues with senior management. 
  • Systematically undertake on-site visits to review, analyse, and report on partner compliance with all relevant financial transactions. 
  • Provide recommendations for partner capacity building as required and provide hands-on training when deemed appropriate.  
  • Be responsible for reviewing the accuracy and compliant nature of financial transactions and procedures, according to each Partnership Agreement, Donor, Government, and SF policy, rules, and regulations.   
  • Be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for presentation to donors promptly and timely.  
  • Overall responsible for ensuring accurate data of all financial operations in Bangladesh and ascertaining the completeness of all documents that are entered into the system.  
  • Ensuring timely and accurate data entry into Agresso/Unit4 system as well as managing the office Trial Balance, accounts, and the monthly accounts completion processes aligning with Head Office requirements. 
  • Ensure all partners comply with the SF Code of Conduct, Anti-Fraud/Anti-Corruption policy, internal control, and risk management.  
  • Oversee external audit by partners and SF country office. 
  • Oversee the Administration in the SF country office. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum Master's degree in Finance/Accounting/Management/Banking
  • Excellent Skills in Budgeting, and Budget Tracking in multi-donor funded programmes. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Office, and related applications. 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English.  
  • A Professional experience in Finance with 7 years of work experience of which 3 years in a senior position in an INGO.  
  • Strong ability to accomplish multi-tasking.  
  • Strong team player, proactive, and with high moral standards. 
  • Proven track record of leading finance and administrative departments in humanitarian/development organizations.
  • An ACCA degree will be an added advantage.
  • The candidate is expected to work in line with SF values.
