Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB) is a civil society managed rapid emergency response pooled funding mechanism. It releases funding within 72 hours of a crisis alert, and it is accessible to local, national, and international member NGOs operating in Bangladesh to respond early to under the radar emergencies. The Programme has evolved since its inception in 2017 and currently implementing other programs i.e., Disaster Risk Financing and Organizational System Strengthening.

The Opportunity

The Project Officer - Start Fund Bangladesh is responsible to support the management of Start Fund Alert Cycle process including online alert process facilitation, organising allocation meeting and project selection meeting, support members organisation for implementing project, data collection, event management and reporting in coordination with its member organisations. This position will work with direction & support from the Senior Manager-Program, Start Fund Bangladesh. 
The Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for coordinating with Start Fund Bangladesh member organisations and nudging them for raising alert and supporting members for quality program management. The position will also act as a focal to ensure safeguarding and accountability measures in Start Fund awarded projects. As focal, their role will be to provide support to Start Fund Bangladesh members for maintaining Mechanism for Accountability to Affected Populations (MAAP) and also safeguarding principles of Start Bangladesh aligning with the safeguarding policies of hosting agency Save the Children Bangladesh.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in project management and partnership management preferably in the humanitarian response and disaster risk reduction sector.
  • Experience working within or in support of networks or similar partnership and membership management. 
  • Understanding of the humanitarian architecture of Bangladesh
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English language skills with good experience in result-based approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with Government representatives, cluster and working group. donors.
  • Experience in data management.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in Development Studies/Disaster Management/Social Science/ Geography and Environment.
