Technical Specialist - Coordination and Advocacy , Strengthening local leadership to promote resilience, recovery and effective response

The Opportunity

This position will involve providing technical and operational support to field programs, while collaborating with implementing partners to ensure project deliverables. The Technical Specialist – Coordination and Advocacy will work closely with ACCM team, local partners and local and national government agencies including other civil society organizations (CSOs) to design and roll out the advocacy agenda, necessary endorsement by government and stakeholders and oversee its implementation, guiding and supporting partners to position themselves on strategizing advocacy initiatives. The position will establish a network among the relevant stakeholders and maintain necessary coordination including reporting. This position will support the Sr. Manager (BHA) to create operational strategies and guidelines for the project's effective implementation.  S/He will also maintain necessary liaison with Humanitarian Sector in the development of proper documentation on grassroot level knowledge and experience. This position will require understanding and experience in community resilience, locally led adaptation nature-based solutions and climate change adaptation.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience preferably in building community resilience, climate change adaptation, anticipatory early action, youth engagement in climate action, Nature based Solution and Locally Led Adaptation.
  • A proven track record for the successful development and implementation of climate change and resilience projects.
  • Proven campaign management skills for climate action and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
  • Sound understating on the national and international climate change adaptation policy, SDGs, etc.
  • Ability to liaise and network with GOB, community leaders and a diverse range of people and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of policy making processes both in local and national level and demonstrated experience of working with stakeholders in the government and donors on advocacy and policy change.
  • Proven project proposal development experience for the climate change adaptation projects.
  • Strong project management, partnership management and budget management skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Child Protection programming.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to emergency response situations and collaborate with incoming teams in case of natural disasters or urgent humanitarian needs.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English to ensure clear and effective communication within the organization and with external partners.
  • Appropriate computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in Social Science, environmental science, climate change, or relevant discipline
