Deputy Chief of Party - Accelerating Reductions in Adolescent Childbearing (ARaC)

Save the Children is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Accelerating Reductions in Adolescent Childbearing (ARaC) program in Bangladesh. The program will focus on increasing the ability of adolescents to exercise their right to delay early marriage and childbearing; strengthen social support for adolescents to delay marriage and early childbearing; strengthen essential services for adolescents and their families; and institutionalize effective solutions.

This position is contingent upon donor approval and funding.

The Opportunity

The DCOP will establish and manage systems to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant program operations across levels and modalities. S/he will ensure strong operational collaboration between consortium members and will develop tools and procedures to guide standard program transfers, logistics, procurement, sub-awards and administration. The DCOP will coordinate closely with finance and program implementation colleagues, including the Project Director/Chief of Party (COP), to ensure a streamlined management approach.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 10 years of experience with administrative systems of large international development projects.
  • Experience in one or more relevant technical areas, including child marriage, preventing early childbearing, gender, child protection, social and behavior change, multisectoral adolescent and youth development, adolescent- and youth-led social accountability and civic engagement, systems strengthening, and/or adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
  • At least three years of experience with organizational capacity development, including experience with adolescent- and youth-led organizations.
  • Experience in program management and administration, financial management, award compliance, sub-award management, and tracking performance and costs via specific funding streams;
  • At least five years of experience with administrative systems of large international development projects. Experience dealing with change and innovation a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of USAID approaches and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in teams.
  • Creative problem- solving skills with the ability to work effectively in resource-constrained environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level.
  • Prior experience as DCOP or Director of Operations on a USAID-funded program.
  • Experience living and working in Bangladesh.
  • A Master’s degree in public health, social work, social sciences, or a related field.
