Chief of Party - Accelerating Reductions in Adolescent Childbearing (ARaC)

Save the Children is seeking a Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Accelerating Reductions in Adolescent Childbearing (ARaC) program in Bangladesh. The program will focus on increasing the ability of adolescents to exercise their right to delay early marriage and childbearing; strengthen social support for adolescents to delay marriage and early childbearing; strengthen essential services for adolescents and their families; and institutionalize effective solutions.

This position is contingent upon donor approval and funding.

The Opportunity

The COP will oversee project design and implementation and provide technical expertise and quality assurance for project activities. S/he will be Save the Children’s primary point of contact with all relevant stakeholders, including USAID, Government of Bangladesh, and other international and local partners. The COP will lead a team of experts implementing project activities; prepare reports, annual operating plans, and project deliverables; and ensure the program is compliant with USAID and Save the Children’s regulations. As the project is expected to align with the objectives of the Government of Bangladesh, the COP will also ensure all activities support in-country priorities, complement existing initiatives, and include plans for sustainability.

Qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience working in large development projects; of which at least 5 years as COP, DCOP, Project Director or similar high-level position for USAID-funded projects.
  • Experience managing large, diverse, interdisciplinary teams, ideally in Bangladesh.
  • At least five years of experience in programming related to child marriage, preventing early childbearing, gender, child protection, social and behavior change, multi-sectoral adolescent and youth development, and/or adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
  • Experience in program management and administration, financial management, award compliance, sub-award management, and tracking performance and costs via specific funding streams; ideally with USG funding.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity; successful experience leading change processes.
  • Familiarity with the processes, procedures, and policies of the Government of Bangladesh.
  • Experience leading consortia and partnering with youth-led and adolescent-led organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of USAID approaches and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Creative problem- solving skills with the ability to work effectively in resource-constrained environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience living and working in Bangladesh.
  • A Master’s degree in public health, social work, social sciences, or a related field.
