Deputy Chief of Party – Bangladesh Community Nutrition and Health Activity

The Opportunity

SCI Bangladesh is currently looking for a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for a five-year USAID-funded Community Nutrition Activity in Bangladesh. This Activity will be valued at $40 million over five years and will focus on improving the nutrition and other health outcomes of women and children in Bangladesh. The program will also address the inequitable nutrition and other health outcomes of the most vulnerable segments of the population through a targeted community-health system strengthening approach.

The Deputy Chief of Party will report directly to the Chief of Party and will be responsible for the overall technical oversight of the CNHA and will be specifically responsible for project implementation that relates to the activity. The DCOP will take a leadership role in ensuring technical implementation of high impact, proven interventions and ensuring the activity meets stated goals and reporting requirements. The DCOP will support the COP and carry out any other tasks assigned by the COP to ensure proper management of CNHA. They will be responsible for operationalizing all aspects of the implementation of technical activities under CNHA.

Qualifications and experience

  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience managing at a similar level or senior technical advisor level in donor funded programs of similar scope in Bangladesh or other countries in Asia
  • Previous experience working on USG programs or other donor funded programs with similar health objectives
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with government, donors, the private sector and community organizations to advance health objectives
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in managing and supervising a technical team and in project design
  • Prior experience as Deputy COP is ideal
  • Experience in successfully establishing and managing collaborative relationships and partnerships with donors and government counterparts at the senior level
  • A history of productive involvement with governmental health systems, processes and service delivery models involving community in developing countries
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity and willingness to innovate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and work effectively in team situations
  • Strong working familiarity with USAID regulations and policies
  • Fluent oral and strong analytical, written English communications skills are required
  • Experience in Asia, with experience in Bangladesh preferred.
  • Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, nursing, or social sciences or advance degree such as in medicine
  • Master’s in social sciences or relevant disciplines with academic research
