Senior Manager – Climate Resilience and Capacity Building

The role

The overall responsibility of this position is to guide and provide managerial support, strategic guidance and technical input to the mainstreaming resilience into program activities, training & capacity building initiatives and governance & advocacy intervention of Suchana, notably the replications of Suchana best practices ensuring quality, coherence and timeliness of program interventions. S/he will regularly monitor the quality of those interventions on the ground, identify the need of managerial and technical support and ensure that field level team receive required training and on the job support to implement activities in the field. In relation to these activities, s/he will also be responsible for ensuring coordination and coherence between implementing and technical partners and GoB stakeholders especially local government (Union Parishad) and support them to develop a holistic plan. S/he will participate in different forum, lead technical discussions, and share progress along with learning from field implementation. S/He will also identify programmatic challenges if any and suggest alternatives and opportunities for re-adjustment/recalibration of program interventions, if needed.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 8 years of experience in developing and implementation of resilience and capacity building interventions including monitoring and evaluation as well as managing partnership with a range of technical, implementing and strategic partners, including 5 years in managerial position.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in the field of government safety-net project activity, Village Savings Loan Association, Community Mobilization and wider ranges of local level advocacy issues for economic empowerment of poor and very poor population in the community.
  • Sound knowledge on Bangladesh government policy on social protection issues / situation and challenges especially for proper targeting.
  • Excellent technical knowledge on VSLA & Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
  • Skilled in providing technical support and guidance on Community Mobilization, Programme delivery on the ground, team management; coordination with a broad range of key stakeholders particularly government and civil society members through partnership and direct implementation
  • Good communication skill; commitment and enthusiasm to learn and advance learning.
  • Master Degree, preferably in Social Science/ Development Studies or relevant discipline.
