Manager - MIS, Education Sector

The Opportunity 

The Manager - MIS, Education Sector is to work in close collaboration with the Education Sector meeting all its Information Managers’ needs.  S/he will be supporting the Education sector with all the relevant Information Manager needs in collaboration with UNICEF Education sector Information Manager. He/she will be expected to be in close collaboration with sector partners and ensure that the data from sector partners is collected regularly and correctly each month, cleaned, analysed and products produces. He/she will be following up on all the Information Management related work regularly such as collecting data, creating necessary tools, producing real-time dashboards through Power BI and map, etc. He/she will be conducting regular meetings with other sector partners' Information Managers and ensure that capacity building is provided, and orientation sessions are conducted for new partners. He/she will support the review processes envisaged in the Sector Strategic Plan, ensuring lessons learned are captured and reflected in preparedness tools and resources, Support the development and use of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for the Education Sector, Maintain regular links with ISCG (Inter Sector Coordination Group) and other Sectors, particularly through participation in the ISCG Needs Assessment Task Force and Information Management Task Force on behalf of the Education Sector and contribute to other initiatives within Education sector strategy.

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of data analysis and data visualization through Power BI, excel, database design using normalization techniques, and mapping software knowledge such as QGIS ArcGIS
  • Knowledge about the humanitarian and development communities, including the IASC Sector approach, UNOCHA, NGOs, the UN system, governments, and donors.
  • Knowledge of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Minimum Standards for Education: Preparedness,
  • Strong graphics designing experience (both pixel and vector) for infographics and cartography
  • Converting raw data into a significant knowledge base by comprehending sector requirements within Business intelligence settings and plan informational sharing models
  • Must have experience in designing and managing project database/MIS
  • Ability to use MS Office applications especially on Excel, digital data collection tools and infographics software
  • Detailed analytics of the power BI scripts after designing, developing, and testing them.
  • Utilized to prepare dashboards and Power Bi Custom Visuals
  • Understanding the power query and data structure with filters and graphs makes things easier
  • Clear Knowledge of real-time data connect through ODK platforms like KoBo, SurveyCTO, Survey Monkey and real-time data visualization
  • Team player and project management as well as supervisory skills
  • Excellent English-language written and oral communications skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline preferably in Information Technology (IT), Information Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Social Science, or any other relevant discipline
