Manager – Safety and Security

The Opportunity

The Manager-Safety and Security in Cox’s Bazar area office has the primary responsibilities for strengthening overall safety & security management across the emergency operations. With support from Area Office Director and Head of Safety and Security, s/he will oversee the security protocol are followed in the area of travel, in the field (Camp, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban District), facilities and offices. S/He is also responsible for managing the security arrangements for Office access, awareness and orientation of Security Guards, Drivers, Volunteers and Staffs. S/he will conduct Security Risk Assessment (SRA) and Threat & Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) of existing & new program areas including camps, also visit and inspect the field offices, program sites as required to support for safe programming. S/he will report & manage incidents, and prepare of Incident Management Plan, including socialization & test of Crisis Management Plan. S/he will also responsible for guard management, CCTV, ACS, FDS management of SCI offices/installations, and also maintain a healthy civil-military relationship and professional network with LEAs and other Government stakeholders.

The Safety Security Manager will be supporting the emergency response team during the onset of any crisis. S/He will be managing the emergency response activities and contribute in the preparedness plan preparation. The role holder will be supporting Head of Safety and Security and Humanitarian Director in facilitating the ERT and Crisis Management training following Save the Children’s humanitarian quality framework, SPHERE/CHS and international code of conduct.

Qualifications and experience

  • Preferably 6 years of experience in safety and security field. Retired armed forces officers (Captain/Major or equivalent) and I/NGO background will be given preference.
  • Candidates with work experience and knowledge on Cox’s Bazar and CHT context are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent skills on verbal and written communication, both in English and Bangla
  • Confident in coordinating with the law enforcement and Government agencies
  • Ability to work in a high pressure situation and with crisis managing skills
  • Good application knowledge on MS Office, particularly in Excel and Power Point
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Social Science/Criminology & Police Science
