Senior Officer – IYCF-E, Nutrition

The Opportunity

The Senior Officer – IYCF-E works as a special aide to the Senior Program Manager – Nutrition in providing technical support to the implementation of quality preventive Nutrition interventions (IYCF-E and CMAMI) at the community and facility level. The incumbent is primarily responsible for conducting regular supportive supervision to identify core Nutrition concerns, including capacity gaps, service quality issues and provide on-job support for strengthening the program quality.  Executing capacity building activities for the SCI nutrition program’s field-level staff as well as for all nutrition program partners based on the mapping and understanding of available capacity is one of the major responsibilities of the position. The incumbent supports community level interventions and liaises with community outreach workers/ mobilisers in promoting IYCF-E best practices through home visit and follow-up with the caregivers of children on any breastfeeding difficulties with support of the community networks. Last but not the least, s/he maintains regular coordination with different sectoral actors like camp-level stakeholders, health, and child protection colleagues for smooth functioning of the nutrition program and prepares periodic program performance reports to update the Senior Program Manager – Nutrition on the challenges faced at the field level and the lessons learnt while ensuring the implementation.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 4 years of progressive career track in nutrition field with minimum 2 years’ experience working in emergency nutrition program (especially in IYCF-E & C-MAMI) in a limited resource setting
  • Excellent team building, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a multicultural team, be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathetic to participants and their caregivers
  • Demonstrated capacity in facilitation, training designing, report writing, monitoring and evaluation
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with the Rohingya population and field workers
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
  • Familiarity with using common computer applications like MS Office package, and proficiency in English and Bangla typing and report preparation
  • Masters or equivalent degree in Food and Nutrition, Public Health, or any relevant discipline
