Project Officer – Child Protection

The Opportunity

The Project Officer - Child Protection is mainly responsible for supervising and supporting the implementation of child-friendly spaces, community-based child protection mechanisms, and overall child protection system strengthening. S/he oversees all the operational activities of the Child-Friendly Space (CFS) and directly leads the team of CFS facilitators, community mobilizers, cleaners, and guards. The incumbent ensures smooth operations of the children’s clubs through monitoring the quality implementation of CFS activities in order to create a positive experience for the participants. Working under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, the post holder assures that all project activities are delivered as per the agreed standards, synced with the accepted MHPSS approaches and practices, and the child protection system strengthening objectives are at the core of all efforts.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in child protection program, desirably with 2 years’ experience working in FDMN response context
  • Hands-on knowhow in documenting, reporting, analyzing, and summarizing qualitative data
  • Good negotiation, representation, training/ facilitation, and coaching skills
  • Ability to organize and deliver trainings for CBCPCs / Community based organizations
  • Sound knowledge on using MS Office, and internet
  • Excellent team building, interpersonal and communication skills and able to work in a multicultural team
  • Capacity to ensure coaching, mentoring and capacity building support to frontline staff and/or volunteers
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Sciences/Social Work or relevant discipline.
