Deputy Manager - Safeguarding

The Opportunity
The Deputy Manager- Safeguarding will lead the safeguarding functions in Cox’s Bazar Area Office, ensuring the implementation of Child Safeguarding and PSEA (Protection from sexual exploitation and abuse) policies and standards. S/he will ensure that Safeguarding systems across the Rohingya Response are high quality, responsive to change needs and are effective across all functions, programs and partners.

Some other key responsibilities: S/he will:

  • Ensure that the safeguarding mechanisms in terms of awareness building, reporting, prevention and responding are in place and are subject to continuous monitoring/review
  • Plan and deliver refresher training and Safeguarding inductions as appropriate for all staff, volunteers, vendors, partners, and ERPs
  • Conduct safeguarding case investigations starting from developing TOR to report writing and case closure
  • Ensure bi-annual risk assessment process for all projects within the Area Office and maintain proper documentation.
  • Work closely with partner organizations to develop and implement Safeguarding procedures and will monitor compliances
  • Act as the Safeguarding case management focal point for the Area Office and prepare Incident reporting form (IRF) and other documents that are needed to close the case
  • Analyze monthly/quarterly/six monthly and yearly cases and plan accordingly

Qualifications and experience

  • At least Five years of experience in child /adult safeguarding or in child rights practices with any reputed organization
  • Experience of working in multi sectoral humanitarian responses and a broad understanding of approaches adopted in delivering humanitarian response
  • Experience of managing as well as undertaking complex safeguarding investigations and/or disciplinary investigations and preparing reports
  • Experience of planning and undertaking training programs/workshops on safeguarding/child rights issues at a range of levels
  • Strong report writing skills in English along with good presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with competing demands to deliver results
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadline
  • Excellent IT skills specifically in Excel and Power Point
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in English/Public Administration/Journalism/Law or in any other relevant subjects

Contract length: Regular Open ended.
