Manager – MEAL

The role

The Manager – MEAL is primarily responsible for coordinating, providing technical assistance to the assigned sector project teams in the areas of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning and knowledge management, research, reporting etc. This person is responsible for synchronizing the MEAL Framework between the assigned Sector in Country office and Projects of the sector in line with SCI Quality Framework. S/he is responsible for supporting program team (including in Emergencies) in designing/developing/updating the MEAL system and MEAL plan of the projects that meets both donor requirements, SCI MEAL standards and procedures. S/he will guide all assigned projects of the sector have strong accountability system which includes all three components of information sharing, participation, and complaints and feedback for all communities and children. The MEAL Manager will coordinate different CO reporting (CAR, KPI, and other thematic reports) under the assigned sector/program of Country Office with support from the Deputy Director- MEAL or Senior Manager-MEAL. The incumbent is also responsible for designing and coordinating different studies (baseline, evaluation, research) under the assigned sector & projects and developing staff capacity in different aspects of MEAL. The MEAL Manager is responsible for designing, leading and coordinating all learning initiative of assigned sector/program and sharing the learning/ knowledge widely.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 6 years’ experience in monitoring & evaluation, proven track record [4 years] of developing, implementing and reviewing MEAL systems/strategies at sector level;
  • Technical expertise and experience in two or more thematic areas where Save the Children works (Health Nutrition HIV/AIDS, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Climate Change/DRR) as well as Humanitarian MEAL experience
  • Previous experience of successfully implementing Results based Monitoring at Country/Sector Level;
  • Solid understanding of quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including skills in analysis, documentation and presentation of complex data/information;
  • Should be proficient in computer operation, particularly, in R/SPSS, MS-Excel, and MS-PowerPoint
  • Experience in designing and implementing Technology based MEAL system/processes;
  • Experience of conducting and/or commissioning evaluations;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Statistics/Social Sciences or relevant discipline
