Project Manager - Climate Change Adaptation

The Role
Project Manager-CCA will have the responsibility for overall guiding the Child Centred Climate Change Adaptation Project, including managing project budget, donor report, partner management etc. In this capacity s/he will directly contribute in planning, implementation, and monitoring of the project activities and also support fellow Save the Children staff and coordinators of partner NGOs for successful implementation of activities. S/he needs to work with children, communities and partners to identify risks or change effects of climate change; ensure that they are prepared to deal with these risks and changes. S/he will also support them in developing their adaptation plan; increase the level of analysis and preparedness for adaptation at local and country level in order to determine the role Save the Children Bangladesh will play in the area of CC; develop and extend Save the Children’s capacity to enter into strategic alliances with other agencies and governmental entities. As the project focuses on advocacy at national level for appropriate resources mobilization, s/he will have to organize the documentation and evidence at field level and accountable and responsible for developing appropriate messages for climate change/resilience.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 6 years experience of working experience, preferably in the areas of CCA or DRR of which 3 years in management position
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both in verbal and written, particularly report writing
  • Strong management/supervisory skills
  • Financial/budget management and representational skills
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet
  • Motivated, committed, responsible, able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Training/capacity building skills
  • Ability to work in a team with flexibility to undertake challenging task and adapt to different working conditions.
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Social Sciences/ Disaster Management/ Environmental Science/ MDS or related discipline
