The role

The Senior WASH Officer is will lead the assessment, plan the activities based on the programm objectives. S/he is responsible to design, estimate and implement the construction activities as well as monitor Hygiene Promotion activities at the designated camps. The position holder is also be responsible for coordination with camp sector, agencies and Govt. Agencies. Will be responsible for required procurement at the camps, train/orient officers, volunteer’s facilitators as well as community. The position holder is responsible for regular supervision and monitoring of the activities, follow up and evaluate WASH infrastructure construction and rehabilitation in institutions as well as communities targeted by Save the Children in the response to ensure the quality, safeguarding and safety. The post is specifically oriented towards the WAS emergency response in the context of the Rohingya crisis and special attention will be given on the integration of the WASH Sectors at implementation level in the field among sectors such as Nutrition, food security, Health, Education and Child Protection.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors in Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Science Engineering, Hydrology, environment or other related fields, Masters is preferred;
  • Minimum 04 years’ experience including 02 years in WASH infrastructure construction management and integration of hygiene promotion in humanitarian or development context;
  • Experience in Hygiene Promotion programming;
  • Proven skills in organization, coordination and planning;
  • Good command over basic computer skills including with MS Word and Excel;
  • Ability to actively listen, observe and adapt;
  • Good knowledge on local language is preferred;
  • Good communication skill in Bangla and English both orally and in writing;
  • Experience working with subcontractors, partners is preferred;
  • Eligible applicants from Teknaf / Ukhiya will get preference;

Contract length: 05 months with possibility of extension depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
