Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certification is highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    • EHS roles within the World Bank, JICA funded construction project.
    • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards and best practices.

Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 30 years
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.

Responsibilities & Context

Spectra Engineers Limited is seeking qualified candidate to join this team in the role of “Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer”.

  1. EHS Management System Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure the effectiveness of the EHS management system.
  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Identify potential hazards and conduct risk assessments for construction activities.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation plans to prevent accidents and incidents.
  3. Training and Awareness:
    • Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through continuous education and awareness campaigns.
  4. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant EHS regulations, standards, and guidelines.
    • Prepare and submit Monthly Environmental Health and Safety Reports to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders as required.
  5. Incident Management:
    • Lead investigations into EHS incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
    • Maintain records of incidents, inspections, and training activities.
  6. Environmental Stewardship:
    • Develop and implement environmental management plans to minimize the impact of construction activities on the environment.
    • Monitor and manage waste disposal, pollution control, Dust Control, Sound control and resource conservation efforts.
  7. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
    • Coordinate with local emergency services and stakeholders to enhance response capabilities.
  8. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and community stakeholders on EHS matters.
    • Participate in project meetings and provide EHS expertise to project teams.
