SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social devolvement organisation provides care for the children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and deprived of caring family environment. SOS Children’s Village International is probably the largest private child welfare humanitarian organization working more than 130 countries and territories in the world. In Bangladesh, we started our operations in Dhaka in 1972, and since then we have expanded our activities from here to Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagerhat, Chattogram, Bogura and Sylhet.

Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

SOS Bangladesh is seeking competent candidates for the smooth operation of the following position.

Position: Assistant Project Officer – Community Mobilisation

Location of Job: Any SOS Location in Bangladesh

Nature of Job: Fixed Term Contract (Yearly renewable based on performance)

Area of Key Responsibilities:

  • Support community entry processes and stakeholder mapping in target areas.
  • Assist to Project Officer and facilitate the field level meeting for beneficiary selection as well as committee formation in community level
  • Take steps to ensure that the programme benefits the more vulnerable families and assist in beneficiary selection in a participatory and transparent manner.
  • Ensure the field level implementation and training schedule with targeted beneficiaries.
  • Assist the supervisor in preparing work plan, training plan and budget estimation and develop weekly plannings, including transportation and other support needs
  • Coordinate for project implementation with other departments as well as project stakeholders to achieve desired project outputs and outcomes (including workplan and other community level coordination session)
  • Facilitate community awareness sessions, meetings, and dialogues to promote project goals.
  • Encourage participation of marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
  • Assist the Project Officer in implementing field-level activities as per project plans.
  • Collect and share community feedback with the project team.
  • Support in organizing training, workshops, and campaigns for beneficiaries and community members.
  • Coordinate with local government institutions and other stakeholders for smooth project execution.
  • Keep accurate records of community meetings, attendance, and feedback.
  • Support in data collection, field surveys, and progress tracking.
  • In coordination with MEAL staff for monitoring and documentation on progress of project activities in geographic area/s of assignment
  • Prepare short field visit reports and share with the supervisor.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned from community initiatives.
  • Maintain regular communication with community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations.
  • Represent the project in local coordination meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure visibility of project activities in the community.
  • Assist in logistical arrangements for project activities.
  • Take necessary actions for special assignments and additional responsibilities provided by the Line Manager

Qualification & Experience:

  • Graduation degree in any discipline (preferably in Social Science, Development Studies, or Education). At least 2nd Division/Class or equivalent in all public examinations.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in community mobilization, youth engagement, or development fieldwork, preferably in skills development or livelihood projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of green economy, sustainable enterprises, and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) concepts.
  • Adequate knowledge and skills in computer applications, especially MS Office packages, digital communication tools, and flexibility to work with project management software.

Salary & Benefits: As per Organisation Policy (Negotiable for highly competent candidates).
