SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social development organisation that provides care for the children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children's Villages operates in over 130 countries and territories worldwide. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet and Bagerhat.
Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

Position: Officer- Communications  

Location of job: National Office, Dhaka

Area of Responsibilities:

Mission of the position: The role of Officer-Communications within SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh is multifaceted and will be responsible for managing all communication activities to enhance visibility and support the mission of SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies, managing social media channels, creating content, supporting fundraising initiatives, advocacy support and maintaining media relations.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

  • Manage all social media channels (Website, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), prepare and upload regular content that aligns with the organisation's mission and goals, and monitor and analyse social media performance to enhance engagement and reach.
  • Act as the Communication Focal for SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh and represent the organisation effectively to stakeholders, partners, and the public.
  • Develop and implement the organisation's brand and communication strategy adherence to the brand guidelines of SOS Children’s Villages International.
  • Provide crisis communication support in accordance with the organisation’s policies during any crisis situations and develop and maintain crisis communication plans.
  • Create compelling success stories to support fundraising and enhance organisational visibility,
  • Develop and implement comprehensive brand awareness and fundraising campaigns designed to elevate the organisation's profile and generate vital support for the organisation.
  • Provide design and translation support for various functions within the organisation as needed.
  • Prepare the content and ensure the publication of the organisation’s Annual Report and Quarterly Newsletter.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists and ensure regular and positive media coverage of the organisation’s activities.
  • Assist the advocacy function with communication materials, arranging round tables, and strategies, and support advocacy campaigns to promote child rights and welfare.
  • Coordinate the production of audio-visual content to ensure high-quality and impactful audio-visual materials.
  • Develop Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to support the programmes ensuring they are culturally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives.
  • Write and update blogs to share the organisation’s stories and achievements, and manage and regularly update the organisation’s website to ensure current and relevant information is available to the public.
  • Performs other tasks that may be directed by higher authorities as necessary for the smooth and continuous operations of the unit.
  • Adhere to the guidelines of Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, Sexual Misconduct Regulation (PSHEA) and all other rules of SOS Bangladesh.

Additional Requirements:

  • Age: 28 to 35 years.
  • At least three years’ experience in communication role. 
  • Postgraduate from a Govt. recognized universities.
  • Candidates should have a good command of the English and Bengali (both written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and the internet is necessary and flexible to work in software.
  • Proficiency in Canva and illustrator.
  • Editing AV.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Salary: 40000-45000
