SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh (www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social devolvement organisation that provides care for children who have parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and are deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages International is currently working in 137 countries and territories around the world. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet and Bagerhat.

Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

Position:  Deputy National Director

Number of Positions: 01

Job Location: National Office, Dhaka

Mission of the Position: A senior-level managerial position responsible to ensure the effective delivery of programmes and services to children and youths, families and communities within the scope of organisation’s vision, mission, values and strategy.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Support National Director in strategic planning to ensure its relevance and alignment with organisational strategy.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of programmes and ensure child care according to the organization’s standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of child safeguarding principles and action plans.
  • Ensure capacity building of co-workers on binding policies and its implementation such as child protection policy, code of conduct and other child safeguarding requirements.
  • Support the National Director in building Human Resources capabilities of SOS Bangladesh.
  • Ensure the overall development of the Family Like Care and Family Strengthening Projects in accordance with the organisation’s standards and principles. 
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of project budgets to ensure expenditures are in compliance with the organisation’s and donor's policies and regulations.
  • Act as an advisor to the National Director in various strategic issues and conflict resolutions.
  • Actively work with National Director towards long-term self-sustainability by pursuing with relevant decision makers in government and other private stakeholders.
  • Ensure preparation of Annual Plan, Programme Proposal, and Budget according to the National Plan.
  • Contribute to the development of the children’s village plan and guide Village Directors in policy making activities.
  • Work in a team spirit emphasizing on high-level performance, creative approaches, adaptive feedback and achievement of project goals in a cooperative and collegial atmosphere.
  • Ensure agreed work plans are successfully implemented at the project level.

  • Strong moral character and good physical & and mental health
  • Ability and willingness to travel as and when necessary

Educational Qualification, Experience & Other Requirement: 

  • Post Graduate degree in any discipline with not less than 2nd division/class in any public examination.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience, with at least 8 years of experience at the senior management level in the development sector/NGO/INGO, or government agencies.
  • Track record of delivering excellent results in leadership roles and commanding respect.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation; ability to produce and disseminate high-quality program narratives.
  • Have knowledge of child rights & and protection issues and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
  • Age limit: Minimum 40 years.

Salary: Negotiable

After a probation period of 06 (Six) months, upon confirmation, the incumbent will be entitled to receive regular Salary Scale along with Festival Bonus, Contributory Provident Fund and Gratuity, Children’s Education Allowance, Group Insurance (Death & Accidental) as per existing policy of the organization.
