Introduction

Solidaridad (www.solidaridadnetwork.org) is an international network organization working in Asia and across the globe to address farmers’ income and poverty, and workers’ wellbeing through empowerment and policy influence. Solidaridad Network Asia, as part of the global network of Solidaridad, is operating in Bangladesh for promoting nature based solutions for the sustainable use of land and water for agricultural productivity that increase income and employment for the rural urban poor, and reduce poverty.

Our work focuses on fostering sustainability and empowerment of farmers and workers to develop scalable and economically sustainable solutions in the agricultural and industrial landscape, through adoption of climate smart agriculture, regenerative farming for agricultural productivity and diversification, increased value addition, and supporting an enabling and conducive environment for public and private sector involvement, ensuring that farmers and workers are not left behind.

Overall Job Description

The Communication Officer will play a crucial role in communication and knowledge sharing of Solidaridad programming in the Khulna division. In coordination with the project team, the incumbent will plan, design and implement documentation and communication initiatives of Solidaridad in line with organizational strategic needs and priorities. Under the guidance of the Lead, Policy Advocacy and Resource Mobilisation, and Senior Programme Manager, SaFaL for IWRM Porject, s/he will carry out specific tasks ensuring communication and knowledge sharing among the team, the communities and the local stakeholders to uphold the visibility of Solidaridad. Key responsibilities include capturing and documenting impact stories, high resolution audio-visuals and photographs for reporting and publication in media.

S/he will be reportable to the Lead, Policy Advocacy and Resource Mobilization of Solidaridad Network Asia

The position will be based in Khulna with intensive field visits regularly to the project implementation areas in Khulna division and other areas of Bangladesh as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Analysis and interpretation of projects results for reporting and knowledge products development.
• Develop impact stories, audio-visuals and project briefing documents for internal and external communication
• Develop commodity briefs, case studies, and data driven stories describing and depicting projects results and lessons learned
• Support graphic designing requirements for reports, briefing sheets and presentation.
• Support to organize local and national level stakeholder consultation events, workshops and seminars to share knowledge and learnings
• Visit programme/project intervention areas as necessary to capture information/knowledge/learnings
• Assist in the development of training module and communication materials for reporting and presentation
• Provide required support to assess the performance of different new initiatives.
• These responsibilities are subject to change upon review by the line manager from time to time.

Education & Experience

• Masters/Bachelor Mass Communication, Social Science, English or relevant social science from a reputed University;
• Minimum three years of working experience in the field of communications, media and relevant work in development sector;
• Able to comprehend and write on complex issues and superior analytical ability to understand multiple commodities/sectors
• First-hand experience on production of knowledge materials, and dissemination tools and techniques
• Admirable leadership, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in using MS package and basic graphic design tools
• Good presentation and communications skills, well-versed in both Bangla and English.
