Programme Overview

Working in Bangladesh since 2006, SNV implements projects in the agriculture, energy, and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sectors. Using market-based approaches, we emphasize environmental sustainability and inclusive development. We lower the barriers to economic and social development and promote local ownership. SNV provides tailor-made and sustainable interventions that are effective at raising incomes, providing meaningful employment opportunities, and improving access to and coverage of basic services. Our interventions acknowledge the critical importance of improved climate change resilience and mitigation strategies to achieve sustainable change. We work in close collaboration with the royal government, civil society, and private sector. Our multi-national team of experts works from our national office in Dhaka.

Context and purpose of the job

The Innovations Against Poverty (IAP) program supports innovative, inclusive business models that engage and benefit low-income populations in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia. This program operates a challenge fund to identify and support promising innovations that contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive development in these countries.

SNV in Bangladesh is seeking to recruit a Management Assistant to work in the IAP Project Management Unit providing financial, administrative, communications & marketing, and logistical support for the efficient management of the IAP project across the four countries Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia, working station Bangladesh. The Management Assistant ensures service needs are reviewed, and service delivery is guided. The Management Assistant will assist in the Finance and Administration of a project as well as on the M&E and communications aspects related project implementation.

Main Responsibilities

Project Management & Administration

  • Track milestone due dates and disbursement timelines for the entire IAP portfolio
  • Process milestone reports and disbursement claims for IAP grantees
  • Manage and oversee the correct filing of project documentation on knowledge sharing platform (Sharepoint)
  • Manage the IAP team leave tracker, and other HR oversight tools as necessary
  • Support in booking payments, audit preparations and procurement processes
  • Ensure consistent delivery of service standards and support project processes
  • Coordinate with project teams and partners across Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia to ensure timely follow-up on project milestones and tasks
  • Assist in preparing internal reports and dashboards to track progress across countries

Finance & Partner Coordination

  • Support in monitoring project budgets, verifying expenditure reports, and ensuring alignment with donor compliance
  • Liaise with finance teams to support timely disbursements, documentation, and partner queries

Communications & Branding

  • Support and manage the updating of the project website, and associated providers
  • Support project-level communications activities, and ensure all deliverables align with project branding guidelines
  • Partner with communications colleagues across SNV offices regarding social media posting and overall IAP dissemination
  • Manage the IAP programme photo library, ensuring quality material is added regularly and according to SNV guidelines

Events & Coordination

  • Organize and support project-related trainings, meetings, and events
  • Participate in IAP multi-country meetings and events
  • Coordinate with international colleagues for planning online and in-person meetings across different time zones

Operational Support

  • Provide procurement and logistics support for the IAP team and colleagues across SNV Bangladesh
  • Provide interpretation/translation support and make travel arrangements for team members
  • Coordinate vendor and service provider engagement, ensuring procurement follows SNV standards

M&E, Data & Reporting

  • Support programme M&E activities, and gather and process relevant data according to project requirements
  • Format and design programme annual and semi-annual reports

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other related tasks as directed by the Line Manager.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a UGC-approved university—fields may include but are not limited to communication, marketing, management, operations, or other relevant areas.
  • A business graduate with specialization in management, marketing, or finance, or a Master’s degree in business will add value to the role.

Experience Requirements

  • At least two years of proven work experience in a similar position, preferably in project management, administration, communication, or knowledge management.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with multi-country teams and external partners across different time zones and cultures.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and working with diverse, cross-country teams.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Technical Skills

  • Solid computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet, etc.).
  • Proficiency in IT tools such as SharePoint and other collaborative platforms, as well as design tools such as CANVA.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project, Trello, or similar platforms is an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in an international, multi-country project environment.
  • Willingness to participate in field activities and travel as required.

Duty station: Dhaka with frequent travel to respective project cities

Contract Duration: 1.5 years until the end of the programme in March 2027

Expected Joining Date: As soon as possible.

Working Hours: Full time (minimum of 40 hours per week)

Salary & Benefits: Competitive salary as per organisation salary structure.
