Contract Duration: 28 Months from February 2025 to May 2027 (with highly possibility of extension)

About SMKK
SHEBA MANAB KALLYAN KENDRA (SMKK) is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental humanitarian nexus organization established in January 1996. Committed to serving underprivileged populations across Bangladesh, SMKK focuses on areas such as climate resilience, poverty alleviation, gender equality, women empowerment, humanitarian and emergency response, agriculture, WASH, health and nutrition, education, skill development, human rights and good governance, private sector engagement and organizational development.
Currently, SMKK, in partnership with GFA Consulting Group GmbH (GFA) and supported by the CEF include the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is implementing the "Strengthening Civic Engagement and Gender Equality in Climate-Vulnerable Communities" (NAGARIKATA: SCEGE-CVC) project. The project will be developed in 4 upazilas of Patuakhali and Barguna districts aiming to enhance civic engagement and promote gender equality among landless, climate-vulnerable communities. This initiative aligns with CEF’s objectives to amplify citizen voice, foster dialogue between civil society and the government, and contribute to SDGs 5 and 16.
Position Summary:
The Project Officer for Advocacy and Campaign will be responsible for developing and implementing advocacy strategies that raise awareness about climate change impacts, human rights, and governance issues within the target districts. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, organizing advocacy campaigns, and facilitating policy dialogues to ensure that the voices of the landless and climate-vulnerable communities are represented. The officer will also monitor the effectiveness of advocacy efforts and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement advocacy strategies and campaigns.
- Engage with local government, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Organize workshops and events to promote advocacy messages.
- Monitor and report on advocacy outcomes and community engagement.
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Relations or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in advocacy or campaign management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong advocacy and communication skills.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Proficient in organizing and facilitating events.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of climate change and governance issues.
- Experience in community mobilization and engagement.
- Understanding of local policies and frameworks.
- Willingness to travel to project locations.
Monthly consolidated salary: BDT 35,000.00
