About SMKK
SHEBA MANAB KALLYAN KENDRA (SMKK) is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental humanitarian nexus organization established in January 1996. Committed to serving underprivileged populations across Bangladesh, SMKK focuses on areas such as climate resilience, poverty alleviation, gender equality, women empowerment, humanitarian and emergency response, agriculture, WASH, health and nutrition, education, skill development, human rights and good governance, private sector engagement and organizational development.
Currently, SMKK, in partnership with GFA Consulting Group GmbH (GFA) and supported by the CEF include the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is implementing the "Strengthening Civic Engagement and Gender Equality in Climate-Vulnerable Communities" (NAGARIKATA: SCEGE-CVC) project. The project will be developed in 4 Upazilas of Patuakhali and Barguna districts aiming to enhance civic engagement and promote gender equality among landless, climate-vulnerable communities. This initiative aligns with CEF’s objectives to amplify citizen voice, foster dialogue between civil society and the government, and contribute to SDGs 5 and 16.
Position Summary
The Upazila Coordinators will oversee the implementation of project activities at the Upazila level. They will collaborate with local government officials, community leaders, and field staff to ensure that project activities align with the goals of the NAGARIKATA: SCEGE-CVC project. The role requires monitoring activities, providing guidance to field staff, and fostering effective communication with local stakeholders to ensure the project is responsive to community needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day implementation of project activities at the Upazila level.
- Coordinate with local government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders.
- Supervise and support field staff, including Community Mobilizers.
- Monitor field activities and provide timely updates to the Project Manager.
- Ensure effective community engagement and mobilization.
- Identify and address challenges to project implementation.
Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination or management roles.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local governance and community engagement practices.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Barguna and Patuakhali districts.
- Proficiency in local languages is preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned Upazila.
Monthly consolidated salary: BDT 40,000.00
