SKS Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working in Bangladesh since 1987 with poor and marginalized population including char dwellers, ethnic minority, landless and marginal farmers, disaster and climate vulnerable households with special focus on women and children. It works with multidisciplinary approach with a mission to improve social and economic conditions of the poor and marginalized population by reducing their exposure to climate and disaster risks and improving access to development opportunities and resources.

SKS foundation is looking for a dynamic, committed and self-driven individual for the position of Coordinator, Field operation for its Development Programme to be based in Gaibandha good livable city in northern Bangladesh. This is an upper mid-level full time position with future prospect for promotion and involves a great deal of leadership and super managerial role.

Job Responsibilities:

As a member of a high-performing Development Programme Team s/he will be responsiblefor the following tasks:

  • Coordinate and supervise a number of project teams who are implementing different partnership projects supported by national and international donors.
  • Communicate with focal persons of individual donors to get clarity on their policies, strategies and guidelines applicable for the partnership projects and ensure that those requirements are applied in project management.
  • Monitor physical and financial progress of the designated projects under his/her supervision and prepare progress reports for internal review and submission with donors.
  • Undertake routine and random field visits to project areas to make sure that quality standards and required compliances (implementation guidelines) are followed in the implementation of project activities.
  • Supervise a number of Project Managers/Project In-charge on a day-to-day basis and guide them with technical inputs for trouble shooting and effective delivery of project outputs (result matrix).
  • Demonstrate good leadership role to encourage a diverse team of professional staff engaged with different development projects.
  • Ensure both intra and inter unit coordinationfor effective implementation of donor/grant funded projects and adherence to organisational policy, strategy and guidelines.
  • Appraise line Director and other senior colleagues about project management issues including challenges, risks and any related problems that deserve management attention.
  • Work with current and upcoming internal online computer systems and databases related to planning, monitoringand reporting (PMR) of projects and programmes.
  • Coordinate outcome study/evaluation of projects by donor/external consultant as and when necessary and take responsibility for internal sharing of results.

Qualifications Required

Education and experience:Masters’ degree from a recognised Universitypreferably in social science or development studies including MBA, Economics, Urban and Rural Planning. Applicants with good academic background would be preferred.

At least 8-10 years’work experience with reputed development organisations (national level NGO, international charity, donor agency, research organisation, development networks, government project or similar agency) is required. For women applicant with good academic result, the experience bar may be relaxed.

Knowledge and skills:Knowledge on project management, logical framework, qualitative and quantitative analysis, impact monitoring, team building, donor handling, report writing, case study preparation is needed. Basic knowledge on computer and use of common software in Microsoft is essential.Good communication skills and experience to work with partners and donors is highly desirable.

Competencies:Professional integrity is a non-negotiable competency required for this position. The applicant must be a team player with mutual trust and respect for each other in a mixed team. S/he is expected to be a self-motivated gender sensitive person with ability to work underpressureand meet deadlines. Ready to undertake field visits as required.

Line management and benefits: This is a full-time core position to work five days a week and reportable to Director, Development Programme and based in the Head Office of SKS Foundation at Gaibandha. Monthly salary will be paid in the range of Tk 60,000 – 70,000 depending on experience along with other admissible benefits as per organizational policy.
