Programme Background:
Social and Economic Enhancement Programme (SEEP), Bangladesh, in partnership with Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (Norec) My Village (MVi), Cambodia, is implementing an international exchange initiative titled “Mutual Learning for Nature and People (MLNP)” with financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (Norec).
The project aims to foster mutual learning and institutional capacity-building between SEEP and MVi to promote environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods among nature-dependent communities in both countries. Selected participants will be placed in Cambodia for practical learning, skill exchange, and knowledge co-creation.
Purpose of the Position:
The Project Exchange Participant will represent SEEP in Cambodia and actively engage in the design, implementation, and documentation of project activities with My Village (MVi). The position aims to build competencies in environmental conservation, green micro-business development, and community-based climate adaptation.
Upon completion of the exchange, the participant will return to Bangladesh to apply and share the learning within SEEP’s programming and contribute to institutional development.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Learning and Exchange
- Participate in all Norec-organized pre-departure, mid-term, and follow-up trainings.
- Engage in a structured learning program at MVi focusing on:
- Green micro-business models for indigenous and local communities.
- Climate resilience and livelihood adaptation practices.
- Community-based environmental conservation initiatives.
- Support the development and piloting of training modules, manuals, and guidelines on green enterprise and conservation.
2. Implementation Support
- Assist MVi in organizing and facilitating training sessions, community awareness events, and mentoring activities with indigenous communities in Stung Treng province.
- Contribute to developing and implementing green micro-business plans and supporting local entrepreneurs with technical guidance.
- Participate in monitoring, documentation, and reporting of project activities, including case studies, success stories, and lessons learned.
3. Knowledge Documentation and Sharing
- Lead documentation of best practices and lessons learned on climate adaptation and livelihood improvement.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and reflection meetings with MVi staff and community partners.
- Upon return to Bangladesh, conduct internal learning dissemination workshops at SEEP to integrate new knowledge into existing programs.
4. Compliance and Coordination
- Abide by SEEP’s and MVi’s organizational policies and Norec’s ethical principles.
- Ensure adherence to anti-corruption, gender equality, human rights, and environmental standards as per project guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with SEEP, MVi, and Norec throughout the exchange period.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor/Master’s degree (preferable) in Development Studies, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in the development sector, preferably with national or international NGOs.
- Proven experience in environmental conservation, community development, livelihood promotion, or climate change adaptation.
- Strong understanding of project management, community mobilization, and participatory approaches.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural adaptability, flexibility, and commitment to learning.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with rural or indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of green business development or sustainable livelihood models.
- Skills in data collection, reporting, and documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital communication tools.
Terms and Benefits:
- Duration: 12-month international placement in Cambodia + 2-month follow-up period in Bangladesh. (renewal will be contingent upon performance and availability of fund)
- Remuneration: Competitive salary with insurance coverage and housing allowance (as per Norec/SEEP policy).
- Training: Participation in Norec’s international training sessions in different countries.
- Reporting: Regular progress reports to SEEP and MVi supervisors, as well as participation in Norec evaluations and partner meetings.
Workplace and Safety:
- The participant will be based at My Village (MVi) headquarters in Stung Treng province, Cambodia.
- SEEP and MVi will ensure safe accommodation and working conditions in accordance with Norec standards, including medical insurance and emergency preparedness.
