Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children (SAHIC) is a voluntary non-government organization established in February 1987 and registered with the Department of Social Services, Directorate General of Social Welfare, and NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, with the aim and objectives of prevention, early detection, and rehabilitation of hearing impaired children, along with treatment of general people's ear, nose, and throat diseases.

Job Location                    : Dhaka & Chattogram.
(Chattogram residents shall be given preference for posting within Chattogram)
Employment Status : Full-time & Contractual.

Brief description of key responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized clinical care for ENT disorders, including both outpatient and inpatient services.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
  • Oversee ENT clinic operations and ensure efficient patient flow and service delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, medical officers, and trainees.
  • Review complex ENT cases and offer second opinions as needed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in case discussions and surgical interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.
  • Stay updated on advancements in ENT treatments and technologies.

Administrative and Documentation Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes and discharge summaries in the EMR system.
  • Contribute to the development of ENT guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contribute to department audits, quality initiatives, and case discussions.
  • Participate in duty rosters, on-call schedules, and weekend coverage

Academic and Research Responsibilities:

  • Participate in departmental CME programs, clinical case discussions, and journal clubs.
  • Attend rural ear camps in different remote areas in Bangladesh from time to time.
  • Contribute to publications, presentations, and research under mentorship.
  • Guide interns and junior residents as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • MBBS from a recognized Medical College with valid BMDC registration.
  • FCPS (ENT)/ MS (ENT)/ FRCS/ MRCS/equivalent recognized qualification.
  • For Senior Consultant, minimum 12 years' clinical experience with 5 years' experience as an associate professor.
  • For Junior Consultant, minimum 4 years' clinical experience.
  • Senior consultant must have at least eight publications in local or international journals and junior consultant must have at least three.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in ENT disorders and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle emergency cases under pressure.
  • Basic surgical skills; willingness to upskill in advanced procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of ENT tools (nasal endoscopes, otoscopes, audiometry).
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and documentation.
