Since 2009 in Bangladesh, Room to Read has been implementing education support Programs in low-income and remote communities in Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, Moulvibazar, Narail and Natore districts. Till 2023, we have supported the education of more than 0.4 million children in Primary and 7,386 girls in Secondary schools. We are proud to have worked with DPE, NCTB, NAPE, DSHE, a2i as well as national radio and TV in executing scalable and systemic initiatives to eradicate illiteracy and embed life-skills.
Literacy Program Assistant
(Based in Jhalakathi Office and Reports to the Literacy Program Officer)
Position Overview:
This Literacy Program Assistant directly reports to the Literacy Program Officer and has no direct reports. Literacy Program Assistant supports the administration parts of process & office manages. This position will also involve frequent travel to project sites, and close coordination with local partners, vendors thus require strong communication and coordination skills. This position is based in Jhalakathi.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures schools receive materials and furniture at the appropriate time
- Organizes all logistics (i.e., invitations/coordination of attendees, venues, transportation, lodging, meals, etc.) for Literacy program trainings for RtR staff, teachers
- Monitors progress of implementation calendar, budget, annual plan, and overall tracking of program implementation and spending
- Reviewand consolidates all reports on the status and progress of field sites to submit to LPO
- Collect program implementation monitoring reports, enters and consolidates required data, reviews results and submit to Field Manager
- Responsible for data entry of data into GSD for assigned schools; provides regular updates and analysis
- Involve frequent travel to field sites, and close coordination with local partners, vendors thus require strong communication and coordination skills
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education / Social Sciences or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in development projects, preferably in education
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and a team player
Preferred:
- Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
- Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
- Proven track record of achieving results
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
- Prior experience living and/or working in rural areas
- Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
- Experience in successful implementation of a wide range of tasks as well as developing and implementing improvements in a prior position
