Room to Read is working in Bangladesh since 2008. We are inviting applications from Bangladeshi nationals to work in the following regular positions:
Project Manager- Custom Project
(Based in Dhaka Country Office and Reports to the Country Director)
Position Overview:
The Project Manager-Custom Project will support in the coordination of donor supported projects of Room to Read Bangladesh. He/she will support in the monitoring of project planning, project schedule, coordination, budget and expenditure, reporting etc. The Project Manager will report directly to the Country Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program/Project Management
- Have ready information at all time on the status of project activities and the relevant information on development and execution of project deliverables, project planning, budgeting, action plans and monitoring processes
- Provide data, information, report on project activities as and when requested by CMT
- Follow-up with project implementation calendar to track each goal and objective of project
- Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings based on project requirements
- Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable
- Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
Financial
- Implement a Financial Pipeline Tracking System for effective budget monitoring based on sound financial and budgeting principles
- Closely work with relevant staff for all project’s financial report, budget variances and expenditure
- Assist in providing information for revenue tracker
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Work in close co-ordination with Project team and Country Office RM&E team to ensure the collection of relevant and appropriate data needed for effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Ensure all Custom Projects have updated work-plan and performance management plan in tandem with all approved proposals, regularly reviewing and updating as needed
- Provide alert to the respective project managers and Country Management team on corrective actions required to avoid delays in implementation, including flagging operational issues and risks requiring timely actions
Reporting
- Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from all project meetings
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports from project teams and provide feedback to the respective staff as appropriate
- Support in the submission of the report to the donors and global office
- Document lessons learned and best practices
Co-ordination
- Closely work with Country Management team to ensure implementation of project activities and reporting along with financial report, budget variances and expenditure
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, government, and donors
- Organizing, attending, and participating in stakeholder meetings
- Support in ensuring timely submission of project documentation to donor, Room to Read Global Office, relevant CMT members and other stakeholders as required
- Participate and facilitate meetings where appropriate
Others
- Compile and maintain a database of international and local donor organizations (international foundations, bilateral> and multilateral agencies and private corporations)
- Assist in writing concept notes, project ideas and project proposals and ensure their timely submission
Take on any additional responsibility as and when requested by Country Director or any Country Management team

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Administration, Social Science, Project Management, or related fields
- Good knowledge and understanding of education issues, including teaching methodologies and community involvement in schools
- Thorough understanding of Government of Bangladesh’s Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education system
- Experience of project management and reporting
- Minimum of 10 years related work experience with at least 3 years in similar position
- Strong planning, budgeting/financial management, administrative, supervisory, coaching and program development skills
Skills & Competencies Required

- Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and process documentation
- Strong motivation in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead

- Report writing skills and experience, Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Workshop/training and facilitation skill

- Ability to stay in the field and travel to designated project sites
- Proven track record of achieving results
- Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
- Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators, and government officials
