FSL Value Chain Coordinator

Duty Station: Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar
Report To:  FSL Program Manager
Expected Start Date: At Earliest
Contract length: Up to December 31, 2021 (With possible extension based on funding).

About RI: Relief International, headquartered in USA, is a leading international non-government organization working in 16 countries to relieve poverty, ensure well-being and advance dignity. We specialize in fragile settings, responding to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty.

Relief International (RI) has been working in Bangladesh since 2004, implementing programs covering emergency response, health, economic opportunity, trafficking in persons, gender equality and youth empowerment. RI has been present in Cox’s Bazar since 2014 where it was implementing a trafficking in person’s project in Ukhiya and Teknaf supporting old caseload refugees as well as host communities prior to the large-scale influx. Since 2017, RI has scaled up its operations in Cox’s Bazar to support the emergency response by providing integrated, multi-sectoral programming for refugee and host communities, covering health services, including a 144- bed COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Center in Ukhiya, child protection, SGBV, complimentary food and livelihoods opportunities to support social cohesion. Relief International is currently implementing a large scale refugee response program in Cox`s Bazar in Bangladesh in collaboration with multiple partners including UNHCR, WFP, USAID, IOM.RI maintains a country office in Dhaka with multiple field offices in Cox`s Bazar.

Position Summary:

As Value Chain Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing all field-level implementation under Relief International’s farmer’s market program in Ukhiya. You will provide assistance in set-up and maintenance of farmers markets, identification and mobilization of beneficiaries and smooth day-to-day operations in the targeted camps.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Under the guidance of the FSL Program Manager, assist with:
  • Setting up and maintaining 4 farmers markets
  • Coordinating with WFP to identify beneficiaries, before designing and leading mobilization campaigns
  • Designing and implementing key trainings for vendors, including on value chain addition, supply chain analysis, produce quality standards and testing, food voucher system, nutrition, etc.
  • Design IEC materials for communities
  • Draft program reports
  • Facilitate gender, age and disability mainstreaming in coordination with the protection PM
  • Coordinate with Market Supervisors and volunteers for community level activities
  • Design field-level activity plans, ensuring timely delivery of program activities following these weekly and monthly project work plans
  • Lead in designing and sharing regular procurement plans, coordinating with the Program Manager on budgetary allocations
  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure seamless field movements
  • Any other responsibilities as requested by supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements:
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.

Education:  Master degree (Social Science, Economics, Agriculture, Development Studies, relevant degree)

B. Work Experience:  Extensive (at least 5 years) experience working in livelihoods, food system strengthening and markets, or other relevant FSL experience.

Experience working with INGO/NGO in Cox’s bazar is preferable

  •  Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Extensive experience in building strong community-based livelihood systems and service delivering in emergencies
  • Experience in develop training curricula
  • Strong background and skills in facilitating trainings, coaching and mentoring others
  • Familiarity with implementation of social innovation programs in fragile settings
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, power point
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.

D.  Language Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in Bangali and English.
