Background
RDRS Bangladesh, in collaboration with Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Nepal, has been implementing the project ‘Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Schools Building on What Children Value and Aspire To Do and Be’. This initiative covers Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh and focuses on fostering inclusive environments in schools, particularly within the host communities in Cox’s Bazar. The project emphasizes integrating gender equality and social inclusion principles into school policies and practices.
To enhance this mission, the recruitment of an Inclusion Specialist is essential to address the gaps in inclusion practices and provide expert guidance for creating inclusive classrooms and policies.
Objective of the Role:
The Inclusion Specialist will provide expert guidance and leadership to enhance inclusive education practices in schools within Cox’s Bazar host communities. The role focuses on promoting gender equality and social inclusion by building capacity, fostering collaboration, and delivering tailored training programs for educators and stakeholders. Through assessments, workshops, and strategic recommendations, the position aims to ensure that schools embrace diversity and create equitable learning environments aligned with the goals of the GESI project.
Key Responsibilities
1. Facilitation of Inclusion Practices
- Lead capacity-building sessions, seminars, and workshops for educators, school administrators, and stakeholders.
- Support educators in implementing inclusive teaching methods for children from diverse backgrounds, including marginalized and vulnerable groups.
2. Capacity Building and Training
- Develop and deliver tailored training programs focusing on fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure alignment of training materials with GESI project objectives.
3. Situation Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct thorough assessments of current inclusion practices in schools.
- Prepare detailed reports, highlighting strengths, gaps, and recommendations for improvement.
4. Promoting Collaboration
- Facilitate collaboration among educators to share inclusive best practices.
- Foster an environment of mutual respect and cooperation among diverse student groups.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Track the progress of inclusion initiatives, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Evaluate outcomes and recommend scaling successful strategies or addressing challenges.
6. Collaboration and Networking
- Build partnerships with local education authorities, community leaders, and parents to promote the importance of inclusion in education.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and other project teams to ensure synergy across activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Development Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the education or protection sector, particularly in Cox’s Bazar host communities.
- Proven expertise in implementing inclusion strategies in educational settings.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion principles.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with educational technologies, lesson planning, and evaluation methods.
- Commitment to safeguarding policies, gender sensitivity, and ethical standards.
Safeguarding and Compliance
The incumbent will:
- Abide by organizational policies, including Gender Policy, Child Safeguarding Policy, and PSEAH Policy.
- Maintain compliance with Money Laundering Policy and Code of Conduct.
- Actively promote HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Deliverables
- Training sessions and workshops conducted with documented feedback.
- Assessment report on the current state of inclusion practices in schools.
- Recommendations for improving inclusive education strategies.
Remuneration and Logistics
- Salary: BDT 100,000 (Consolidated)
- Travel and Field Expenses: Provided as per organizational policy.

RDRS Bangladesh is a national humanitarian and development organization works for rural development by empowering the rural poor in northwest Bangladesh. RDRS was formally established as the Bangladesh field program of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) on 8 February 1972. Its development aim is to achieve sustainable increases in their living standards. With this aim, RDRS enables those who participate in its program to gain the necessary skills, understanding, confidence, institutions and services; and ensure that the rural communities have the necessary economic, social and environmental resources. RDRS employees approximate 3,700 staff and works with a further approximately 1,000 volunteers and daily paid workers. The vast majority of staff are in field positions, with specialist sectoral and support units in Rangpur and Dhaka. |
