Duration: 10 Days (Will Start from 15 January 2025; contract will be extended depending upon fund availability.)

Background
The GESI Project, implemented by RDRS Bangladesh in collaboration with Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Nepal, aims to create school environments where children are taught and experience principles of gender equality and social inclusion. This initiative emphasizes empowering children by focusing on their valued capabilities and aspirations to influence GESI policies and practices in schools within host communities in Cox’s Bazar.
Objective of the Role:
To enhance the integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) principles in educational settings by analyzing curricula, conducting field assessments, developing strategies, and providing capacity-building support to educators and administrators. The role aims to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments that empower students and contribute to sustainable policy and practice improvements in schools within host communities in Cox’s Bazar.
Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum and Content Analysis
- Assess existing curricula and teaching resources to ensure GESI alignment.
- Recommend adaptations to better reflect gender equality and social inclusion principles.
2. Field Assessment
- Conduct field visits to schools to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods and learning materials.
- Collect and analyze data from schools, teachers, and students.
3. Strategy Development
- Develop actionable strategies for improving GESI integration into educational frameworks.
- Provide innovative solutions to address challenges such as limited resources or ineffective teaching practices.
4. Training and Capacity Building
- Train educators and school administrators on GESI-aligned teaching methodologies.
- Design and deliver training workshops and materials.
5. Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor GESI integration progress and prepare detailed reports on findings, including successes and challenges.
6. Collaboration and Advocacy
- Engage with stakeholders, including local educational authorities, to promote GESI principles in schools.
- Represent the project in relevant forums, workshops, and conferences.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- At least 3 years in the education sector, particularly in host community or humanitarian settings.
- Experience in curriculum development and implementing gender-sensitive educational approaches.
Skills:
- Expertise in GESI principles and their application in education.
- Proficiency in curriculum evaluation, data analysis, and strategic planning.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with modern teaching technologies and methodologies.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Adherence to organizational policies, including Gender Policy, Child Safeguarding Policy, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) Policy.
- Compliance with the organizational Code of Conduct, Money Laundering Policy, and HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives.
Deliverables
- A comprehensive analysis report on current GESI-related gaps in schools.
- Updated curriculum recommendations incorporating GESI principles.
- Training materials and workshop session plans.
- Final report summarizing findings, strategies, and outcomes.
Remuneration and Logistics
- Salary: BDT 100,000 (Consolidated)
- Travel and Field Expenses: Provided as per organizational policy.

RDRS Bangladesh is a national humanitarian and development organization works for rural development by empowering the rural poor in northwest Bangladesh. RDRS was formally established as the Bangladesh field program of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) on 8 February 1972. Its development aim is to achieve sustainable increases in their living standards. With this aim, RDRS enables those who participate in its program to gain the necessary skills, understanding, confidence, institutions and services; and ensure that the rural communities have the necessary economic, social and environmental resources. RDRS employees approximate 3,700 staff and works with a further approximately 1,000 volunteers and daily paid workers. The vast majority of staff are in field positions, with specialist sectoral and support units in Rangpur and Dhaka. |
