Consultancy for Translation of Training Modules
(English to Burmese Language)
1. Background
PROTTYASHI is implementing a livelihood and skill development initiative aimed at empowering vulnerable Rohingya refugees particularly women and youth residing in Bhasan Char, Noakhali District. The project focuses on promoting self-reliance through market-oriented skill development training, transferable life skills, and income-generating opportunities, including in-kind support and Cash for Work activities.
The project is being implemented with the technical support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and is aligned with ongoing interventions supported by the same donor and implemented by the existing project team in Bhasan Char. Over a period of nine months, the project targets a total of 625 Rohingya refugees, including 525 newly selected beneficiaries and 100 beneficiaries from previous interventions, with a strong emphasis on women’s participation.
To ensure effective comprehension and learning outcomes for Rohingya beneficiaries, PROTTYASHI seeks to engage a qualified consultant to translate nine updated training modules on Bangladeshi handicrafts from English into the Burmese language.
2. Objective of the Consultancy
The primary objective of this consultancy is to accurately and contextually translate nine updated training modules on different Bangladeshi handicraft trades from English into Burmese, ensuring clarity, cultural appropriateness, and usability for Rohingya refugee learners.
3. Scope of Work and Expected Deliverables
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Reviewing the English versions of all nine training modules;
- Translating the content into clear, simple, and technically accurate Burmese language;
- Ensuring consistency in terminology, readability, and alignment with training objectives; and
- Incorporating feedback from PROTTYASHI to finalize the translated modules.
Expected Deliverables:
- Draft Burmese translations of all nine training modules;
- Revised versions incorporating feedback from PROTTYASHI; and
- Final Burmese versions of all training modules submitted in agreed formats.
4. Consultant’s Profile
The consultant should meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification in a related field;
- Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in Burmese language translation;
- Excellent command of Burmese language, with strong understanding of technical and training-related terminology;
- Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills; and
- Prior experience translating training or educational materials will be considered an asset.

6. Expression of Interest (EOI)
Interested individuals or agencies must submit an EOI including:
- Contact details;
- Valid TIN certificate;
- Updated and detailed CV/profile highlighting relevant translation experience and similar assignments;
- Brief methodology outlining the approach, timeline, and outputs; and
- financial proposal with a detailed budget.
7. General Terms and Conditions
- PROTTYASHI reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal without providing justification;
- All documents, translations, and reports produced under this assignment will remain the property of PROTTYASHI;
- No part of the documents may be reproduced, sold, or used without prior written consent from PROTTYASHI; and
- PROTTYASHI or its representatives reserve the right to monitor the quality and progress of the consultancy throughout the assignment period.
