Education Technical Officer

Location: Anywhere in Cox’s Bazar district

Contract Duration: Initially for 30/06/2025 with possibility of further extension depending on the performance and funding availability.

Background:

Prottyashi is implementing the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) - Bangladesh project with the support of the International Rescue Committee – IRC for both the Host and Rohingya communities in Bangladesh. The project is going to support children aged 3 – 18 years to ensure access and quality support of educational activities in the mentioned community along with other focuses like inclusion, children with disabilities, and gender.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The position will be responsible for technical support to ensure the quality implementation of the intervention. The major focus will be training, content development, classroom observation, CiC coordination, reporting, and monitoring. He/she will also be responsible for supporting project assistants for guidance and quality assurance of the teaching-learning activity at the field level. This position will also involve frequent travel to project sites, and close coordination with field facilitators, local community, and vendors thus requiring strong communication and coordination skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement project activities in line with the education sector’s guidelines and project DIP. 
  • Develop learning materials, content, tools, and guidelines with the support of the Technical Manager/specialist.
  • Prepare training modules, schedules, training materials, and conduct training.
  • Develop training plans with the project coordinator for building the capacity of the project staff.
  • Ensure on-time supply of educational materials as well as other supportive kits as per project design.
  • Train and coach, the project assistant, and facilitators on different tools, curricula, and approaches.
  • Conduct observations in classrooms and provide recommendations to the center facilitators and caregivers.
  • Form CESG for each center and conduct meetings regularly.
  • Ensure the progress monitoring and tracking of implementation calendar, budget, and annual plan.
  • Ensure approval of need assessment and project completion report from the CiC office.
  • Coordinated with govt. level officials to implement interventions in the host community.
  • Work in compliance with and respect for the principles of core humanitarian principles.
  • Working with FDMN people and host communities with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Prepare ToR for capacity building or other related activities including meeting with stakeholders and following up on the implementation plan and deliverables.
  • Identify key protection threats affecting the children and raise them to the project coordinator for further help.
  • Identify safety issues and follow up with the project assistants and center facilitators on the safety and security of the chosen locations.
  • Follow up with caregivers/parents on the delivery of progress reports of children and the documented competencies gained, and skills needed to access formal education in the host community.
  • Ensure that a monthly programmatic/technical progress and 5W report is submitted.
  • Be aware of the emergency procedures in response and ensure that necessary preparedness measures have been implemented after coordination with the Project Coordinator.
  • Attend and participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality, and reporting requirements are followed.
  • Attend and participate in local training and capacity-building events as needed.
  • Perform any other assignment as per project need.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of safety issues concerning children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding and Psycho-Social support programming.
  • Ability to train and coach staff on ECD, Facilitation skills, and parent engagement.
  • Good command of English, both written and oral.
  • Skill in photography
  • Good command of the Chitagonian language is highly appreciable.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Creative and able to come up with, embrace, and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work in difficult and high-risk situations.
  • The position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
  • Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis, including during a PROTTYASHI response to a manmade or natural disaster.

Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Post-graduation in any relevant subject (B. Ed/ M. Ed. preferred)
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with children focusing 3 – 18 years.
  • Experience in the Rohingya Education program (Myanmar Curriculum) will be preferable.

Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 55,152 BDT with project contributory provident fund, Gross 75% festival bonus and regular traveling and communication bill.
