Job Summary
PROTTYASHI, a social development organization has been working for the development of disadvantaged population of the country since its establishment with an aim to ensure everyone to live with dignity and prosperity. PROTTYASHI reaches the community with basic needs and supports to save lives and facilitate all the people of the community to live with equal value and priority. PROTTYASHI works for the disadvantaged portion of the population in community addressing their pressing needs following the strategies contextually viable and environmentally sustainable. PROTTYASHI has been actively supporting the refugee population in the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar as one of the first responders since August 2017. PROTTYASHI has been vigilantly supporting these crises affected population to accomplish its promised commitment towards humanity and people in distress.
To ensure improved food security for the refugee population helping them to meet nutritional requirement in an environmentally sustainable manner, PROTTYASHI is going to implement “Promotion of Market Linkage” Activity of WFP Cox’s Bazar Resilience Programme with the technical support of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation in selected host communities of Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas. PROTTYASHI invites applications for the vacant position titled- Market Linkage Officer (On-farm) for the Project and encourages the persons enthusiastic to contribute to the increased resilience of the humanitarian crisis affected host community people in Cox’ Bazar.
Reporting
Market Linkage Officer (On-farm) will report to the Project Coordinator. S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, project teams and organization’s other priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both program and operational of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct Market Linkage Workshops (on-farm) to connect producers with buyers, input suppliers, and service providers.
- Conduct district-level Market Linkage Workshops to strengthen value chain networks.
- Organize bi-monthly meetings with the Agriculture Standing Committee of Union Parishads to advocate for farmers' market access.
- Analyze and assess potential buyers and suppliers, including retailers, wholesalers, and cooperatives, and identify market opportunities for farmers.
- Help farmers understand market dynamics and trends, including pricing, supply chains, and demand fluctuations.
- Provide technical support and training to farmers on market requirements, quality control, packaging, and delivery.
- Assist farmers in overcoming market barriers, such as lack of transport, insufficient product quality, or limited bargaining power.
- Promote value-added agriculture and help farmers access additional income through alternative markets or innovative sales approaches.
- Collect and share market-related information (prices, demand, regulations, etc.) with farmers and stakeholders.
- Maintain a database of potential buyers and suppliers and keep it updated regularly.
- Prepare regular reports on market trends, linkages established, and the progress of farmers in accessing markets.
- Establish partnerships with local and regional organizations, cooperatives, and relevant stakeholders to expand market opportunities for farmers.
- Represent the organization at meetings, workshops, and forums on market access and agricultural value chains.
- Support the design and implementation of monitoring systems for tracking the success and impact of market linkages on farmers’ livelihoods.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of market linkages and adjust strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of market transactions, farmer participation, and market data.
- Facilitate different trainings/workshops related to on-farm interventions
- Facilitate different visits at Aggregation Centers
- Lead the activities of Aggregation Centers (ACs)
- Lead the activities to supply food items to WFP fresh food corners at Camp
- Maintain close communication with the CP of WFP who implementing Activity-4
- Supervise Market Linkage Supervisor
- Any other activities as assigned

Required Educational Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Agriculture or related discipline.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in on-farm production, collection center/aggregation center management, market linkage, business development, or enterprise promotion.
Technical Skills
- Professional writing and speaking capacity in English and Bangla, i.e. preparing monitoring report, field visit report, event report, case study/story, press release, content writing, etc.
- Proficient with MS office suite
- Able to take decision in a timely manner, priorities and multi-task work seamlessly
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 56,753 BDT with contributory provident fund 2830 BDT, monthly bonus 5,417 BDT and regular traveling and communication bill.
