Job Summary

PROTTYASHI, a social development organization has been working for the development of disadvantaged population of the country since its establishment with an aim to ensure everyone to live with dignity and prosperity. PROTTYASHI reaches the community with basic needs and supports to save lives and facilitate all the people of the community to live with equal value and priority. PROTTYASHI works for the disadvantaged portion of the population in community addressing their pressing needs following the strategies contextually viable and environmentally sustainable. PROTTYASHI has been actively supporting the refugee population in the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar as one of the first responders since August 2017. PROTTYASHI has been vigilantly supporting these crises affected population to accomplish its promised commitment towards humanity and people in distress.

To ensure improved food security for the refugee population helping them to meet nutritional requirement in an environmentally sustainable manner, PROTTYASHI is going to implement “Promotion of Market Linkage” Activity of WFP Cox’s Bazar Resilience Programme with the technical support of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation in selected host communities of Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas. PROTTYASHI invites applications for the vacant position titled- Market Linkage Officer (Off-farm) for the Project and encourages the persons enthusiastic to contribute to the increased resilience of the humanitarian crisis affected host community in Cox’s Bazar.

Reporting

Market Linkage Officer (Off-farm) will report to the Project Coordinator. S/He has to maintain functional relationships with his/her peers, project teams and organization’s other priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both program and operational of the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish linkages between off-farm producers and potential buyers, retailers, and wholesalers.
  • Organize and facilitate Market Linkage Workshops (Off-farm) at upazila and district levels.
  • Conduct Boot camps and promotional campaigns to strengthen market linkages.
  • Conduct market assessments to understand demand trends, pricing structures, and potential buyers.
  • Facilitate linkages between off-farm producers and input suppliers from both private and public sectors.
  • Facilitate Market Linkage activities like match making events, buyer visits, fair etc.
  • Provide technical support to producers in product development, branding, and quality assurance to meet market standards.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly meetings with off-farm producer groups and retailers/vendors at Aggregation Centers.
  • Promote market access by organizing buyer visits, participating in product fairs, and developing a global market linkage webpage.
  • Strengthen producer linkages with EFSN shops and SME production centers.
  • Conduct quarterly coordination meetings with all off-farm project staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of market linkage interventions and prepare reports for internal and donor use.
  • Ensure timely implementation of planned activities, maintaining compliance with donors and organizational guidelines.
  • Work closely with HELVETAS to implement best practices and methodologies for market linkage promotion.
  • Support developing a webpage for linking Off-farm products with the global market.
  • He/she is a key person for EFSN shop related and off-farm related interventions.
  • Facilitate different visits related to Off farm
  • Maintain close communication with entrepreneurs and other CPs of WFP resilience program all over the Cox’s Bazar
  • He/she will supervise a team including Market Linkage Supervisor (Off Farm), Market Facilitator (EFSN Shop) and Shop Keeper for EFSN Shop
  • Any other activities as assigned

Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's/master’s degree in fine arts, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in market linkage, business development, or enterprise promotion.
  • Must have 1-2 years working experience in Off-farm related market expansion and entrepreneurship development project.

Technical skills

  • Strong understanding of market systems and value chain development for off-farm products.
  • Experience working with small enterprises, cooperatives, and artisans.
  • Experience on market linkage like match making events, buyer linkage, buyer visits etc.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Skill of photography
  • Must have professional writing and speaking capacity in English and Bangla, i.e. monitoring report, field visit report, event report, case study/story, press release, content writing, etc.
  • Able to take decision in a timely manner, priorities and multi-task work seamlessly

Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 56,753 BDT with contributory provident fund 2,830 BDT, monthly bonus 5,417 BDT and regular traveling and communication bill.
