Job Summary

PROTTYASHI, a social development organization has been working for the development of disadvantaged population of the country since its establishment with an aim to ensure everyone to live with dignity and prosperity. PROTTYASHI reaches the community with basic needs and supports to save lives and facilitate all the people of the community to live with equal value and priority. PROTTYASHI works for the disadvantaged portion of the population in community addressing their pressing needs following the strategies contextually viable and environmentally sustainable. PROTTYASHI has been actively supporting the refugee population in the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar as one of the first responders since August 2017. PROTTYASHI has been vigilantly supporting these crises affected population to accomplish its promised commitment towards humanity and people in distress.

To ensure improved food security for the refugee population helping them to meet nutritional requirement in an environmentally sustainable manner, PROTTYASHI is going to implement “Promotion of Market Linkage” Activity of WFP Cox’s Baz ar Resilience Programme with the technical support of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation in selected host communities of Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas. PROTTYASHI invites applications for the vacant position titled- Market Linkage Supervisor for the Project and encourages the persons enthusiastic to contribute to the increased resilience of the humanitarian crisis affected host community people in Cox’s Bazar.

Reporting

Market Linkage Supervisor (On-farm) will report to Market Linkage Officer (On-farm). S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, project teams and organization’s other priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both program and operational of the organization. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Market Linkage Officer in establishing direct market linkages between farmers and buyers, including retailers, wholesalers, and cooperatives.
  • Provide direct support to farmers in identifying market opportunities for their agricultural products.
  • Facilitate meetings, buyer-seller linkages, and market fairs as organized by the Market Linkage Officer.
  • Act as a point of contact between farmers and buyers, providing feedback, negotiating prices, and ensuring a smooth transaction process.
  • Provide on-the-ground support to farmers in understanding market requirements, product standards, packaging, and delivery protocols.
  • Assist in training farmers on good agricultural practices (GAPs), quality control, and market-driven production methods.
  • Help farmers identify and overcome market challenges such as poor transportation, insufficient product quantity, or low-quality standards.
  •  Assist in the monitoring of market access activities to ensure that farmers are meeting buyer expectations and benefiting from market linkages.
  • Collect data on market conditions, trends, prices, and other relevant information and report findings to the Market Linkage Officer.
  • Prepare regular reports on the number of linkages, volume of produce sold, market performance, and any challenges faced by farmers.
  • Share updated market information (prices, demand trends, etc.) with farmers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure that farmers have the necessary market information to make informed decisions regarding production and sales.
  • Assist in organizing logistics for transportation of goods to markets, including identifying and coordinating with transport service providers.
  • Support the coordination of sales events, market fairs, and other activities aimed at enhancing market access for farmers.
  • Build relationships with local market actors such as buyers, cooperatives, traders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Participate in evaluations, surveys, and assessments to determine the impact of market linkages on farmer income and livelihoods.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and share insights on improving market linkages and addressing farmer challenges.
  • Ensure that field activities are conducted in line with the program's objectives and timelines.
  • Identify challenges faced by farmers in the market linkages process and provide solutions in collaboration with the Market Linkage Officer.
  • Organize different events under on-farm activities
  • Assist Market Linkage Facilitators to organize different events and capacity build up of Market linkage facilitators
  • Assist Market Linkage Officer (On-farm) to develop different reports
  • Monitor the supply chain of products to fresh food corners and ensure different logistics support for its.
  • Capacity build up of AC’s Members on AC management and engage them in supply chain system to fresh food corners
  • Supervise Market Facilitator (On-farm) and Peer Educator
  • Any additional tasks as assigned.

Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Agriculture, or a related field.
  • At least 02 years of professional experience in national or international organizations, specifically in coordinating livelihood projects

Technical Skills

  • Professional writing and speaking capacity in English and Bangla, i.e. preparing monitoring report, field visit report, event report, case study/story, press release, content writing, etc.
  • Proficient with MS office suite
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 34,991 BDT with contributory provident fund 1,676 BDT, monthly bonus 3,333 BDT and regular traveling and communication bill.
