Projahnmo Research Foundation (PRF) in association with Johns Hopkins University, USA has a long and illustrious history of conducting research in Bangladesh. PRF’s research has contributed to improvement of health of Bangladeshi citizens and has supported the career development of numerous Bangladeshi public health professionals. PRF is seeking qualified and motivated Bangladeshi nationals to apply for the position of Project Manager for The BLAAAST Trial: Bangladesh Lung Auscultation with Artificial Intelligence for Antibiotic STewardship Randomized Controlled Trial. This trial will be implemented in Zakiganj and Beanibazar Upazillas of Sylhet district.

The Project Manager will be directly responsible for effective and quality overall management of the study. Under the technical directions of the project PIs and investigators, s/he will be responsible for planning, execution and study related communications with the study staff and investigators. S/he will prepare and review study reports, progress, identify gaps and potential solutions and communicate with Co-PIs and Investigators. S/he will be also responsible for administrative management of staff and resources. S/he will have to ensure effective and efficient use of the project's resources and materials.

Duty station: Sylhet (70% time to be spent on field visits)

Responsibilities: 
Under the technical directions of PIs/co-investigators, s/he will be responsible for:

1. Responsibility # 1: Research Planning and Implementation
  • Ensure adequacy of implementation in Sylhet as per protocol
    1.  Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
    2. Ensure compliance with study protocols, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
    3. Make frequent visits to field and study hospital and ensure research implementation
    4.  Facilitate training to study staff about the study
    5.  Support logistics supply to field office
    6.  Identify challenges of implementation and assist to design strategies to overcome those
2. Responsibility # 2: Research Monitoring
  • Design routine field monitoring reporting template from field data and database
  • Monitor rate of enrollment and study retention (track progress of study)
  • Assist to design data quality assurance system and tools
    1. Training and refreshers training for the project staff on study procedures and ethical considerations.
    2. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) of tools, ensuring adherence to study protocols
    3. Standardization of field implementation
    4. Design and organize supervision and support systems
    5. Facilitate logistic management to ensure adequate field implementation  
3. Responsibility # 3: Report preparation, data management, quality assurance
  • Develop reporting template to track the progress of the study and forecast challenges through the report
  • Assist field and data teams to generate and use routine project reports
    1.  Ensure study specific weekly/fortnightly reports
    2.  Support data team to generate study specific fortnightly/monthly reports from database
  • Prepare quarterly/half-yearly progress report for donor and IRB as needed
  • Review routine quantitative and descriptive reports and suggest improvement/change, if necessary
  • Maintain proper documentation for ethical approvals, participant consent forms, and study records.
4. Responsibility # 4: Communication and liaise
  • Create and maintain close liaison with hospital where the study will be implemented at all levels
  • Maintain good liaise with DGHS and other stakeholders
  • Regularly communicate to PI and Co-investigators to update progress and share issues with potential solutions
  • Attend weekly Zoom call with PIs and investigators even after work hours and provide update of the study, challenges with potential solutions.
5. Responsibility # 5: Risk Management and Problem-Solving
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to study implementation.
  • Address logistical, technical, and operational challenges as they arise.
  • Develop contingency plans to ensure the smooth continuation of the study.

Reporting: Reports to Deputy Director and Head of Sylhet Field Operations.

Qualification and experience:  

  • Bachelor in medical science (MBBS). Candidates with Masters in public health (MPH) will be given preference.
  • At least 5 years professional experience with exposure to MNCH project/research management, project design, and evaluation.
  • Experience in program management and administration, financial management, award compliance, and tracking activity performance and costs
  • Strong in written and verbal English and Bangla communications
  • Skilled in MS Office software

Job Nature: Fixed term

Salary: NO-B.

Benefit: 12% retirement fund contribution by PRF will be given as per organizational policy.

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis.
