Plan International Bangladesh is currently completing its 4th Country Strategy and will enter the 5th Country Strategy from July 2020 with a vision that ‘We will partner to empower girls and young women, to be heard, to live without fear of violence and to achieve their rights’. The project will also support one of our programme objectives, which aims at challenging gender norms at the family and community level to nurture safe place for girls and young women’s aspirations.

In line with our vision and programme objectives, we have developed a project titled “Combating Early Child Marriage in Bangladesh (CEMB)” funded by Global Affairs Canada. The CEMB Project supports the Government of Bangladesh’s commitment from the 2014 Global Girls’ Summit to: create a National Plan of Action to eliminate Child Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) below 15; reduce by a third marriages below 18 years by 2021; and end all CEFM by 2041. It will promote the progressive provisions of the Child Marriage Restraint Act (CMRA) 2017 and envisions close cooperation with the Ministry of Women & Children Affair, Ministry of Education, a2i and other relevant stakeholders to contribute in implementation of NPA for Adolescent Health strategy in Bangladesh. The initiative is also fully aligned with the goals set by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) governments through the regional South Asia Initiative to End Violence against Children (SAIEVAC). 

The role and Scope:

  • Deliver national component of the project while providing oversight support to ensure quality delivery of district model.
  • Lead the implementation of this project and provide both technical and managerial support to the project team in the field.
  • Effectively manage and guide the project in collaboration with Divisional offices, implementing partner NGOs, two to three ministries and other stakeholders at National, Divisional and district levels. 
  •  Ensure that the learnings of the project effectively influence the national plan of action to combat child marriage in Bangladesh and inform Plan’s approach to tackle child marriage in Bangladesh and globally.
  • Lead, organize and ensure quality as agreed with donor to ensure synchronized project implementation.
  • Oversee all project management, administration, procurement, financial and human resource management according to Plan International and donor rules and regulations.
  • Develop financial reports in coordination with the Project team, M&E, Finance, HR and admin teams to share with the donor.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team member with Masters’ degree and at least 5-6 years’ experience of managing grants project, preferably on rights and protection of children, girls and young people.  Must have all aspects of managerial experience including managing large project budgets. Experience in developing project planning, implementation guidelines, complex decision-making and leading a multi-disciplinary team. As the project works with national NGOs and govt. bodies, so s/he must have proven experience of working in partnership with national & local NGOs and government bodies and also need the experience in representation and negotiation with governments and donors.

Salary Package: BDT.  1,55,505.00 (monthly) along with other benefits i.e.,. hospitalization benefit for spouse and children, contributory provident fund, gratuity, leave, group insurance and yearly medical check-up for employee.
