Technical Specialist- SRHR, Y-MOVES

(Based at the Country Office in Dhaka)

All over the world girls are at risk because of their young age and their gender. They are at risk of being denied the opportunity to access a secondary education, to gain the skills and training they need to work and to exercise control over their sexual and reproductive health. They are at risk of being married before the age of 18. They are at risk of violence and harassment from men and boys in every space they occupy, including their home, their school, their refugee camp and their city.

Plan International Bangladesh implemented the SIDA framework to strengthen civil society during 2014 to 2019 that was very successful in strengthening a National Children Task Force to monitor Child Rights as well as to create alternative reports to United Nations Agencies.

Based on the development made in this phase, Plan International Bangladesh will start the next phase that is called the Y-MOVES program that will contribute to building a dynamic and inclusive civil society working towards advancing young people especially girls’ rights to participation, protection and sexual reproductive health in Bangladesh. It is based on the premise that adult civil society actors in Bangladesh need to work in partnership with young peoples’ organizations/platforms to effectively influence government stakeholders to implement policies and programmes that cater to the needs of young people on issues of SRHR and protection from SGBV. At the same time, by gaining capacities to influence decision makers through collective actions, these civil society actors including the young people’s organizations and platforms themselves will become a stronger voice and key drivers of change in promoting SRHR and protection rights of young people.
