Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Specialist
 (based at the Country Office in Dhaka)

All over the world girls are at risk because of their young age and their gender. They are at risk of being denied the opportunity to access a secondary education, to gain the skills and training they need to work and to exercise control over their sexual and reproductive health. They are at risk of being married before the age of 18. They are at risk of violence and harassment from men and boys in every space they occupy, including their home, their school, their refugee camp and their city.

In Plan International Bangladesh, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program is implementing activities through integration with Quality Primary Education and Community Managed Health Care programs and supporting to achieve the goal and objectives as set in Country Strategy. The WASH activities are improving school water and sanitation facilities and hygiene practices among children in order to achieve sustainable learning environment at schools and the health of children. Similarly WASH in Community intervention has successfully demonstrated the eradication of open defecation through CLTS approach; which contributed to reduce the under-five mortality and morbidity and also improving the health and hygiene behavior among the community.

The role

As a WASH Specialist, you are required to provide technical support to the Project Team at Divisional Offices, Dhaka Urban Programme and Partner NGOs in the qualitative implementation of WASH programme/projects through preparing annual implementation plan and monthly/quarterly reviewing the progress in terms of quality and quantity. You will be responsible to provide inputs for preparing technical guidelines, monitoring the program quality and impact evaluation of WASH programme/projects and prepare the document on WASH and disseminate through networking.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a ‘to go’ and a passionate team member who has sound knowledge of community-level challenges impacting healthy WASH service delivery. Completion of B. Sc. Engineering in Civil with specialization in water supply, sanitation and hygiene aspects, or Masters in Public Health Engineering or Environmental Engineering along with 5-7 years working experience in the areas related to Water Sanitation and Hygiene field will be required. Specialized training on Water and Environmental Sanitation technologies; Community led Total Sanitation including PRA; Hygiene promotion through comprehensive approaches will be added value.
