All over the world girls are at risk because of their young age and their gender. They are at risk of being married before the age of 18. They are at risk of violence and harassment from men and boys in every space they occupy, including their home, their school, their refugee camp and their city. They are at risk of being denied the opportunity to access a secondary education, to gain the skills and training they need to work and to exercise control over their sexual and reproductive health.

The role:
As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating the development and leading the implementation of the communication strategy for CEFM and girls’ rights for the project. Through collaboration with others, you will identify key areas from existing research and programming, our roles in networks, our engagement with young people to strengthen CEMB project’s advocacy and campaigning techniques in the rapidly changing national political and social environment and changing preferences for media consumption. Furthermore, you will be accountable for positioning CEMB as the leading CEFM intervention of Plan International in Bangladesh by a civil society organization that will achieve the following results:

  • Increased agency of adolescent girls and boys to protect themselves from harmful gender norms and practices, including CEFM, and exercise choice in economic opportunities and decisions in their futures
  • Improved community acceptance of norms that value the girl child and actions that support girls and boys to delay marriage
  • Increased responsiveness of duty bearers at national, district and sub-district levels to prevent and respond to child rights violations, particularly CEFM, among vulnerable girls.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a ‘to go’ and a passionate team member who has experience in developing and delivering communication strategies in humanitarian contexts. An advanced degree holder with 5-7 years of in the similar role, preferably in development field with knowledge of identifying strategic and gender aspects as well as formulating key messages for relevant audiences to deliver through various mediums.
