Plan has been working in Cox Bazar to respond to the Rohingya refugee influx since 24 September 2017 implementing the following key objectives: 1. Ensure girls and boys affected by the crisis are protected from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation through appropriate prevention and response interventions in line with minimum standards. 2. Reduce the transmission of disease from fees to mouth through the promotion of good hygiene practice and the reduction of health risks related to poor sanitation 3. Restore and increase access to safe quality and inclusive educational opportunities for refugee children and adolescents (girls and boys) affected by the Rohingya crisis.

The role:

The Technical Specialist (Myanmar Curriculum) will ensure the technical quality of Plan International Bangladesh’s implementation of the Myanmar Curriculum (MC) and Pre-service Capacity Development (PSCD) of Rohingya women to become a teacher and deliver Myanmar Curriculum in camps. Specifically, the MC Specialist role will lead on providing technical support to MC and PSCD with a heavy emphasis on girls’ enrolment, and should bring technical expertise in the areas of low capacity female teachers education and/or girls’ education.

The Specialist will be responsible for the technical design of MC and PSCD teacher trainings and supplementary curriculum materials as well as capacity building to MC staff to be able to implement activities in line with international standards (i.e. INEE Minimum Standards for Education). The Specialist will be expected to provide technical mentorship and support to Technical Officers and Facilitators, ensuring the overall quality of the pilot implementation. To do this, s/he will collaborate internally with the Education Technical team and the project team, as well as externally with the projects donor, as well as with the Education Sector on MC issues, serving as Plan’s key focal point on MC.

What we’re looking for:

Master degree in Education or Masters in Social Science or related field. Minimum 5 years working experience in education sector (formal and non-formal education) and experience in humanitarian settings (specially Myanmar Curriculum) and child protection is an asset. Prior experience in teacher education and/or girls’ education required. Experience in designing and delivering teachers’ trainings. Experience designing educational materials, including guidance notes, lesson plans, and supplementary materials. Experience with education assessments or quality monitoring tools. Ability to collaborate with others. Ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines. Demonstrates leadership and problem-solving skills. Well-developed written and oral communication skills - able to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of Plan. Demonstrates experience in or awareness of gender-sensitive programming. Fluency in English both written and oral communication. Experience in humanitarian settings. Experience in coaching or mentoring technical staff Good knowledge of and/ or experience with the INEE Minimum Standards and with education cluster coordination a plus. Experience with children with disabilities a plus. Proficiency in Burmese and/or Bangla, written and spoken highly desirable.

Salary Package for this role is BDT. 104,245 to BDT. 117,275 fixed monthly Gross along with other benefits i.e hospitalization benefit, festival bonus, leave, insurance for employee.                                                                                                                                                              

Closing Date: 25th May 2024.  Selected candidate will get initially contract for this position up to 31st December 2024 and highly possibility for extension based on performance.
