Empowering Dreams of Menstruating Girls in Bangladesh

The Project:

The project “Stop the Stigma: Empowering dreams of menstruating girls in Bangladesh” envision empowering adolescent girls and young women (10-24) to tackle the challenge of stigma and taboos associated with menstruation and support to develop a conducive environment that allows enjoying improved menstrual health and hygiene in Sadar Upzilla of Bhola District. The project will contribute to create an enabling environment by involving the wider communities, including but not limited to boys and young men, government representatives, families, parents and caregivers, schools, and health facilities.

The Role:

Capacity Building Specialist will be responsible for designing and conducting the different capacity development activities for children, young people, parents,  religious leaders, Teachers, SMCs, and partner’s staff and duty bearers of Organizations of People with Disabilities (OPDs), Local Government, Education Department, Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE), Teachers, SMCs, Community Clinics, Family Welfare Centre, private sectors mainly engaged in menstrual products, local female entrepreneurs based in schools and community, WASH cluster, Health Cluster and national MHM platforms, etc. on improve  knowledge, attitudes and skills related to their menstrual health and improve access of MHM supply and enhance knowledge to contribute in developing supporting attitude in family and community.

S/he also does quality monitoring of outputs and processes on a sample basis. This position is also responsible for ensuring the evidence-based reporting of the outputs/outcomes results of the project in compliance with guidelines and budget developed by Plan International Bangladesh.  S/he will ensure documentation of good learnings from the field for the Donor and for policy advocacy. Capacity Building Specialist will also be responsible for ensuring work environment for the team and maintaining good teamwork within the project and also in the country program.

What we’re looking for:

We need a self-motivated and energetic individual with Master’s Degree preferably in Social Science or any other relevant subject from a reputed University. Any degree in adolescent/sexual and reproductive health or WASH-related subject will be preferred. The person should have around 3 years of experience with partners in implementing WASH & MHM related projects in a development organisation. Also, in-depth understanding of Menstrual Hygiene management, gender dimension, gender equality, and inclusion. He should have ability to lead implementation, monitoring, and supervision of development projects. Excellent training facilitation & reporting skills and exposure to community development especially in the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is an added advantage. He should also have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in order to present information quickly and clearly to a variety of audiences, including the ability to communicate effectively both in English and Bangla.

Monthly consolidated salary range for this role is Tk. 86,870.00 to Tk. 100,000.00 (may vary based on experience) along with other benefits i.e. Life Insurance, Hospitalization Insurance coverage along with Out Patient Treatment Benefit.
