Technical Specialist-SOYEE

(Based at Rangpur Divisional Office)

We believe in the power and potential of every child. This is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination. It's girls who are most affected. Plan International’s new Global Strategy aims to transform the lives of 100 million girls by implementing an integrated programme and influence approach.

In Bangladesh, we have set our vision for 2030 as, ‘We will partner to empower girls and young women, to be heard, to live without fear of violence and to achieve their rights’. We have started the new country strategy in July 2020 aiming to achieve this exciting and ambitious vision. This would require the organization to have an effective, efficient, and committed workforce willing to challenge the prevailing status-quo, engaging men, women, boys, youth people, especially girls and bringing the best out of all to create synergy for movement at all levels – from community to national, and beyond.

The role and Scope:

In collaboration with Plan International Norway, Plan International Bangladesh is going to start a project with the financial support of Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) Telethon that aims to reduce the Early Child and Forced Marriage- CEFM in Bangladesh, and the target district is Kurigram in particular. The integrated project will work in the areas of i) youth governance, ii) sexual reproductive health, and rights, iii) child marriage prevention system strengthening & monitoring to reduce CEFM, and iv) girls’ economic empowerment that will ultimately contribute to combating early and forced marriage. Through this project, the girls and young women along with the boys and young men will be empowered to drive a systemic change for achieving gender equality and promoting an enabling environment for youth especially for girls and young women to build their future aspirations and make decisions. The project will be implemented from January 2022 to December 2025.

The Technical Specialist-SOYEE will work with the team members to deliver the activities of the project. This specific role requires competencies to lead the technical skills development, job placement and private sector engagement for ensuring paid jobs for the target people. The role should also lead the technical activities of sustainable enterprise development with a focus on agro and non-agro sectors including establishing a value chain. This economic empowerment approach will ultimately contribute to ending child early and forced marriage in Kurigram. Therefore, the role of Specialist – SOYEE is crucial in implementing the project. The position holder will ensure high-quality program deliverables internally and externally.
