Summary:

The Communications and Documentation Officer will be responsible to develop, implement, track and provide input to the Project Communications Strategy and Plans. She/he will be responsible for project reporting, desktop and printed production and publications, media and social media engagement, success story documentation and supporting the project team for day-to-day management. She/he supports the team to ensure proper branding, editorial standards, and communications policy guidelines are properly followed throughout the project and comply with organization and donor requirements. She/he will contribute to the project implementation, maintain strong coordination with the project team and stakeholders, and lead the content and/or creative development process as required in collaboration with other Pathfinder country offices and headquarter. With support from Bangladesh country and global team, she/he will maintain strong network with the journalists and collaborate with in-house editors, technical writers, proofreaders, videographers, graphic designers, desktop publication specialists, and event planners to increase Project’s external visibility and engagements. She/he will be leading the development of the internal reports, project documentation and managing external content and creative development. This position will also closely work with the ‘Communication & Documentation Manager’ of Pathfinder Bangladesh office.
  • The position is assigned to Pathfinder’s Bangladesh Women-Led Climate Resilience (WLCR) project in Bangladesh. It is a four-year project that aims in advancing the leadership of women and girls towards better health and climate change resilience in Bangladesh.
Key Job Outcomes:
  • Technical Report Writing: Lead, coordinate and create the technical reports for the project on monthly/ quarterly or as need basis. Provide strong copy-editing and editorial support for finalizing country level reporting and maintain strong coordination with regional and global team for successful submission of donor deliverables.
  • Brand Compliance: Support ensuring proper branding, editorial standards and product quality throughout project implementation, internal and external engagement and sharing.
  • Materials Development and Design: Draft, develop and design audience targeted technical brief, report summary, project brief, pictographic and infographic documents to showcase and share project’s achievements and other relevant documents. Also, support the team with day-to-day design and development.
  • Internal- External Communication: Plan, strategize and develop different types of internal and external materials, reports, one-pager about project, case study, project newsletter, social media posts with the assistance of the project manager. Performing as an editor for documents. Remaining a point person for regional and global communications team.
  • Presentations: Prepare and support preparing slide decks and brief notes for presentations; ensure proper branding marking and fine tuning of any presentation package along with developing/ proofreading the relevant documents for local, national and global events.
  • Communications Plan Execution: Lead the internal creative planning and execution of communication materials, including website, social media, video documentation and print collateral. Oversees the creation on content and design of assigned projects.  Ensures timely production of communications tactics towards appropriate audiences.
  • Communications Strategy Implementation: Guides and implements plans and strategies to achieve project-specific communications objectives. Leads conceptualization and oversees the writing, editorial, production, dissemination and publications management of communications materials (including online and email communications strategies) in support of the Pathfinder International brand strategy. Ensures consistency in the language, look and feel of all materials (including press releases) targeted to external audiences.
  • External Relations Liaison: Serves as Pathfinder’s point of contact for external communications who forwards communication requests to appropriate departments. Builds and strengthens collaborative relationships with internal business units and teams.
  • Vendor Oversight: Provide content and oversee editorial work of consultants on planning and message development, managing services for materials, designers, printers, photographers and media. Oversee and guide vendor relationships. Ensures that appropriate content is translated to meet target audiences’ needs.
  • Online Status Findings and Recommendations Reports: Monitors the website, intranet and other online statistics, reports results and recommends improvements impacting usability, engagement, and visibility.
  • Activities and Events Coordination: Lead and assist (where needed) with organization-wide events and speaking engagements, including events and conferences to promote Pathfinder among the government stakeholders.
  • Project Management and Participation: Leads, manages or participates in cross functional project teams.
Minimally Required Job Competencies:
  • Communications Principles and Practices: Foundational knowledge of applying standards, guidelines and best practices to communications efforts.
  • Brand Strategy Development and Implementation: Ability to create, execute and sustain assigned enterprise-wide brand strategies.
  • Design and Print Production: Solid understanding of the design process, desktop publishing, adobe creative suites function and print production.
  • Communications Tools: Advanced knowledge of online and new media communications tools like-), prezi, Piktochart, PowerPoint etc   
  • Job-Specific Software Applications: Advanced knowledge of software applications such as adobe creative suits (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, premiere pro) and other relevant web-based solutions, social media platforms, and apps.  

Minimally Required Organizational Competencies:

  • Software Applications: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Creative Suites (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
  • Languages: Proven ability to write and speak using the Bangla and English language
  • Communication: Advanced oral and written communication skills using different forms of media. Ability to translate complex concepts to individuals at all levels.
  • Resilience, disaster management and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Foundational knowledge of climate change, disaster management, family planning and reproductive health principles, practices and services of assigned program, including program strategies and indicators.

Minimally Required Education, Training and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in communications, Development Studies, Fine Arts, Dramatics, Journalism, or related field, or a combination of education and experience that yields the minimally required competencies.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications specially in developing reports, success stories and project brief, donor reporting
