Request for Proposal (RFP)
Individual Consultancy services for Improving Menstrual Hygiene Management in Emergencies for Rohingya Women

Following widespread violence in Myanmar in August 2017, 906,572 people (52% Females), settled in camps around Cox’s Bazar, remain displaced and in need of assistance. During emergencies, managing menstruation safely, hygienically and with dignity is a vital challenge to women and girls. This is often due to a lack of physical access to latrines during menstruation, a lack of sanitary materials and cultural taboos. Women and girls may lack access to adequate supplies or materials (e.g., safe cloths, pads, underwear) to manage their menstruation; or they may lack the spaces and mechanisms for privately disposing of used materials. Displaced adolescent girls and women face significant barriers to managing monthly menstruation in a safe, private, and dignified manner. Humanitarian crises exacerbate menstrual management challenges, given girls’ and women’s frequent lack of access to basic materials and disposal In this context, Pathfinder international Bangladesh going to start a pilot project titled ‘Improving Menstrual Hygiene Management in Emergencies for Rohingya Women at Cox’s Bazar’ which is going to be implemented in Camp-22 (Block C & D) under Teknaf Upazila.

Overall aim of this project is to ensure that 650 adolescent girls (FDMNs) inside camp 22 are able to manage their menstruation health  in a sustainable, hygienic and dignified manner and to ensure greater access to MHM products and services leading to better  reproductive health and greater empowerment.

The intervention package will include awareness raising on basic Menstrual Hygiene Management, Early Marriage & Early Pregnancy, Family Planning, SRHR and Safe Disposal of Sanitary Pads for the 650 adolescent girls.
