Request for Proposal (RFP)
For Consultancy Services for Adolescent Health Activities

Pathfinder International, in partnership with IntraHealth International has been implementing the USAID Accelerating Universal Access to Family Planning (AUAFP) project in Bangladesh. The goal of AUAFP is to contribute to the improved health and human capital in Bangladesh.  In Bangla, the project name is “Shukhi Jibon”.

Existing data highlight the lack of FP programs focused on meeting the needs of adolescents and youth, both married and unmarried. Consistent with the definition used by the GOB and WHO, the term “adolescence” is used to refer to the time period from 10 to 19 years. The WHO definition of reproductive health is modified for adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) as “the right of adolescents to be informed of and to have access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of fertility regulation of their choice, and the right of pregnant adolescents to go safely through pregnancy and childbirth with the best chance of having a healthy infant.”

Adolescent girls and boys, female and male youth, newlyweds, women and men seeking FP information and services are the direct beneficiaries of the AUAFP Activity. The Shukhi Jibon activity will focus on helping newlyweds delay the first birth and have healthy spacing between the first and second births in the four focus divisions through information, counseling and services.

In connection with project activities related with adolescent friendly health services, Shukhi Jibon will develop counseling training curriculum, job aid, booklet on frequently asked questions to improve client provider interaction.  To implement these project initiatives, Pathfinder is looking for a consultant who to provide comprehensive technical assistance to take the lead of these said events.
