Background:

Bangladesh is currently experiencing a significant increase in its youth population, with approximately 27.82 percent falling within the 15 to 29 age group. This demographic presents an opportunity for sustainable development if effectively harnessed. To realize this potential, it's essential to provide young individuals with the knowledge, skills, leadership abilities, and practical experience they need. Creating an environment that fosters aspiring leaders, activists, scientists, journalists, and entrepreneurs with a focus on justice, resilience, and sustainability is imperative to address complex societal issues. Oxfam's vision is to create a just and equal world, emphasizing inclusivity regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, or other aspects of identity. This vision aligns with the demographic dividend and the available opportunity structure in Bangladesh.

Oxfam Fellowship Programme aims to prepare young individuals from diverse educational backgrounds and orientations to effectively confront pressing issues pertaining to gender justice, climate justice, economic justice, humanitarian action, and disaster risk reduction through adopting the feminist perspective. The fellowship envisages cultivating innovative ideas and providing support for their successful execution, contributing to a more equitable and just world.

Key Objectives:

  • Empower and engage the youth population in Bangladesh by cultivating their ability to effectively speak for justice and equality in the realm of their work.
