The Role:
The Media & Communications Manager lead’s Oxfam in Bangladesh’s internal and external communications under the supervision of the Head of Policy, Influencing, & Communications. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that Oxfam in Bangladesh’s programs, partnerships, and impact is effectively communicated to Oxfam’s internal and external stakeholders through a variety of materials and channels. This is including but not limited to producing written content, social media management, website/other digital channel management, and supporting the development of materials, multimedia, toolkits, reports, presentations, graphics, etc. and ensure the branding and visibility of the organization.
What we are looking for:
- Master’s degree in journalism / Mass Communication or other relevant qualification. An academic degree in social science with strong relevant experience in internal and external communications and media engagement can be considered.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in visibility and brand management, ability to identify branding risks and suggest appropriate solutions.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Experience of writing or developing, analytical features in English or Bengali newspaper/s.
- Understanding of the development context of Bangladesh and the Asia region, as well as rights-based development approaches are essential.
- Fully technically competent in internal communication, media engagement, social media, and public campaigning.
- Willing and able to adapt priorities in order to respond to changing demands.
- Some experience in budget management and procurement to ensure quality of communication products.
- Strong experience in managing relationships with mainstream and new media.
- Proven experience in managing media visits and ability to travel to remote areas of Bangladesh as needed.
- Management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience at an international organization is desirable.
- Must demonstrate commitment and sensitivity to gender and diversity issues.
